Rachel Reeves should refine fiscal rules to avoid emergency spending cuts, IMF says The organisation, which has been assessing the UK economy, upgrades its growth forecast this year to 1.2%

It’s been evident from the start that the self-imposed fiscal rules make no sense. Now, even the IMF is advising that Reeves should avoid making short-term savings during a downturn in the economic forecast.

Ok, I'm gonna stick my neck out: I think the UK government is currently the most serious - and most growth focussed - in the G7. The investor gloom & worries will dissipate. Please prove me wrong.

Here's why I think the UK is a good bet: 🧵 (1/8)

The Government’s own shocking data shows a staggering 97% of new patients who try to get an NHS dental appointment fail to get one

We all need to back the @thebda.bsky.social in its call for urgent action to save NHS dentistry

Dear BlueSkyers. Sadly I'm getting many reports of scammers pretending to be me here, incl messaging people with 'investments' . Pls share/help me spread word that, as you know, THIS IS MY ONLY BLUE SKY account (proved as my handle is an official MoneySavingExpert one). All others are scams

I've been researching the idea of Unconditional Universal Basic Income since 2013. Here's a collection of findings I've compiled from various UBI experiments and studies of cash transfer programs around the world.

This will be a VERY LONG and ongoing thread focused entirely on empirical evidence. 🧵

🚨NHS dentistry has effectively ceased to exist for new patients

The government has so far offered no timetable for key pledges:

❌700,000 urgent dental appts
❌Dental Contract Reform

@thebda.bsky.social is calling for urgent action if NHS dentistry is to be saved

Do you agree with Sadiq Khan’s knighthood?

OK, my left-of-centre friends, let us see if we can swing the vote in favour of Sadiq Khan; and really upset the Daily Express

Definitely need the club to start posting which will encourage the great #NCFC community on here. Would be a terrible shame for the momentum to stall.

A scorpion asks a fox for a ride across the river. The fox hesitates, fearing the sting. The scorpion promises not to. Midway, it stings the fox, dooming them both. “Why?” asks the fox. The scorpion replies, “It’s my nature.”

The only solution, is public ownership.

This guy can't catch a break, first he gets 3 bricks, now 30 months for taking part in a riot.

At least there should be less projectiles in prison.

Just Stop Oil protestor Gaie Delap, 77 has been sent to prison for Christmas

Because the companies Capita, G4S, Airbus, Telefonica and Buddi who run the UK electronic tagging system are too incompetent to make a tag small enough for her.

She needs to be released immediately.

King Charles who loves killing foxes, birds, and badgers has been made Patron of the RSPCA.

King Charles used his power to block a ban on Fox Hunting and to make sure it is the joke ban we currently have.

RT if the RSPCA should remove him.

During Covid lockdown, if you had family round on Christmas Day the police could force their way into your home and make them return to their own homes.
Does anybody know if this service is still available and, if so, do you have to book it?
