What is it that makes children able to learn something new -- especially learn something new on the grown-ups' timeline? At the intersection of being capable, being interested, and being connected there's a magic overlap... occuplaytionaltherapist.substack.com/p/capable-in...

that all makes a lot of sense and I really appreciate you taking the time to spell it out for me :)

makes sense! I probably won't ever get tons out of it - my main platform has always been fb; I write 1500 word essays on the regular. my non-meta replacement has been Substack and I mostly use here for signposting about there. :) I'm not sure how best to use this space yet!

thanks! :) I still don't know very much of what I'm doing (other than just posting here to let people know when there's a new substack post) so if you have any advice, I'm all ears!

Sometimes - relatively rarely - I put posts behind a paywall on my personal Substack. Blackout Bible poetry, and the reasons why that feels so raw to me, was one of those today. insideoccuplaytional.substack.com/p/blackout-b...

A drawn, cartoony image of a snowball rolling down a hill, with words over it that read, “Have you ever done the thing where you find yourself thinking, “okay, it’s 10:55 and I have an appointment at 2. So i need to leave at 1:30 and that’s basically right after lunch and 12 is lunchtime and it’s almost 11 now and 11 is almost 12 so I pretty much can’t do anything else, it’s almost appointment time.” I’m going to call this effect ‘snowball time’.”

While working on something else I had a brilliant idea for a post. I quickly scribbled myself a note so I could reconstruct it later.

"Value something intensity vacillate groundhog."

...Thanks, past-me. This is soooo helpful.
