Definitely accesible, at least large parts of it. You can model and texture a building like that with basic Blender knowledge, lots of great free resources out there. This particular style of rendering and some of the VFX perhaps trickier technically for a beginner.

Plastic Sea - Some in-engine locomotion tests with crabbie. Animation speed synced with actor velocity and I have some procedural sway on his body based on rotation speed.
Always love mixing baked animation with procedural elements that are reactive to player input!
Plastic Sea - Hermit crabbie, rendered in 3ds max viewport here, this is just an early placeholder model/design
Plastic Sea - Cute creatures, along with the theme of the game, also allow for opportunitites to gut punch the player a bit. Don't you just wanna help the poor fella?
Engine test with the baby turtle. I imagine there would be lots of special events in the game, like baby turtles emerging out of sand and heading for the ocean
Plastic Sea - baby turtle, another simple character, animated here in 3dsMax
Animating this way is a quick way for me to test some basic stuff like how expressive the character is, detect any problems early.
I really love bringing a character to life asap is just another personal reason haha, might not be a special point to it
Appreciate it, followed ya back!
"Finished" key art. It's just a quick mockup of course but I like the vibe it sets
Plastic Sea - I've been developing characters for the game. This is a playblast straight from 3dsMax viewport. Animated procedurally with modifiers and noise controllers, I always like to do this before any more complex rigging.
Plastic Sea still lives rent free in my mind. I'll be posting some retrospective about it in the coming days.
We're excited to announce our upcoming 3-day charity stream for Child's Play!
Join us for a unique opportunity to learn from industry experts and give back to a worthy cause. #realtimeVFX #CharityStream #ChildsPlay #LearnAndGiveBack
