Starmer’s Orwellian compulsory ID cards won’t make a blind bit of difference on “illegal immigration” but will impinge on all our freedom. Scotland should be able to forge its own way with reactionary Westminster interference spying on our day-to-day life. #noID

So, nearly 41% of those arrested during last summer’s UK riots had previously been reported for domestic abuse. Were these the same people protesting asylum seekers? What does this say about safety in our country?

My article in press, orgional used for quotes by BBC and Guardian. Summarised as follows: Wildfires in Scotland were once rare. Not anymore.
Hotter, drier springs and summers—driven by the climate crisis—are turning landscapes into tinderboxes. Fires are now more frequent, intense, and destructive. This is not a distant threat. It’s happening now, in Moray and across Scotland.

Bruce Farquharson of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service puts it plainly: “Warmer, wetter winters and hotter, drier summers mean more vegetation—and more fuel. The risk is growing.”

Forres Weather Station has recorded one of the driest springs and summers on record. Warnings go out—no BBQs, no campfires—but are often ignored. Last month, one campfire destroyed 625 acres of Culbin Forest. A new fire at Dava may have started the same way.

Firefighters are risking their lives. Wildlife habitats are being wiped out. Tourism is threatened. This is not just environmental—it’s economic. People don’t visit Moray for scorched wastelands.

I recently returned from the Cairngorms, where wildfire warnings are now everywhere. Moray must follow suit. After the Culbin fire, I called for funding for wardens. But that’s not enough. We need stronger public awareness and roadside signs that reflect the real threat.

We also need personal responsibility. I’ve completed wildfire training. Having lived in rural California, I’ve seen entire communities reduced to ash. We must act now.

Moray’s Climate Change Route Map is under review. These fires must be a turning point. We need bold, urgent leadership and a robust wildfire strategy. Climate impacts are escalating—storms, sea level rise, food insecurity, and NHS strain. We can't afford delay or denial.

Everyone has a role to play. Learn how to prevent wildfires. Understand the risks. This cannot become our new normal. It’s time for bold, collective action—before it’s too late.

This is my full article and press release (used by BBC and Guardian) My point: we may know the immediate cause was a campfire run wild, but behind this-climate change is the real cause, and that's all our responsibility. @scottishgreens.org

Flood alert for Highland and Moray areas affected by wildfires - BBC News Sepa's alert follows a forecast for heavy rain for parts of the Highlands and Moray.

Glad the BBC picked up on my comments but didn’t print my assertion on the need for a wealth tax for climate justice and community resilience! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

What’s wrong with UK (Anglo-centric) media? Utterly ignoring devastating fires in the Highlands. Shameful.

They are already doing this! The BBC is a train wreak of an organisation that has already given far too much ground to political interference.

‘Only takes a spark to start a wildfire’ - Plea to be responsible as outdoor fire spots revealed A Moray Councillor and local resident are backing SFRS’ call to the public to stop lighting outdoor fires.

Much of Scotland is currently under an “extreme” wildfire warning, yet irresponsible behaviour continues to put people, wildlife, and entire communities at risk. This cannot go on.

Really great to meet Professional Foodballer Zander Murray, and discuss overcoming homophobia and promoting inclusion in sport. Only 5 out of 130,000 professional footballers in the world are out! Sexuality shouldn't stop anyone being the best they can be. Team @scottishgreens.org on your side!

With mainstream parties backsliding on climate and resilience, cosying up to planet-killing lobbyists, and populists spreading fakery and lies, it's good to be out with the Moray Branch of the Scottish Greens—putting people and planet first. We are nature’s frontline.

Here in Scotland, we've strengthened protections through our new national planning framework and other policy initiatives, in the main thanks to the Scottish Greens. Sad to see England drift into a grey wasteland due to labour's anti-nature government. Another reason for independence.

This is just the beginning—a full-scale assault on humanity. From immigration to science, democracy, the 99%, and the environment—everything is being weaponized to advance an autocratic agenda, fueled by right-wing enablers and billionaire megalomaniacs.

Britain’s food supply is precarious – and Trump’s chaos is spreading. I have a plan. Do you? | George Monbiot I’ve started a stockpile, but that isn’t the answer. If crisis strikes, the government needs a strategy to protect us all, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

I'm frustrated with the inaction on food security. When I bring it up, there's often a reluctance to act. This issue can be addressed, but ignoring it is a tragic failure. Labour's lack of action after the Tories is appalling. We need meaningful renewal and a new approach to politics - a Green one!

And ignored it was a stage managed ambush of Zelensky - in the words of one diplomatic observer - a planned political mugging. Odd that party allies like Lindsey Graham tweeted HOURS BEFORE meeting “America was disrespected and the deal is off, I have never been more proud of President"

Trump making more claims of ownership yesterday... "I own Aberdeen...I have a great warm spot for your country." might be news to the good folk of this fair city!

Is it just a question of affordability or who owns the press and how it serves their interests?

"Roads, roads, roads" seduces by romanticising driver "independence" while restricting the individual's freedom to access other transport. The A96 dualling is the NE's biggest red herring, distracting from inclusive, integrated transport for all. Who speaks for the common good? @scottishgreens.org

In the paper this week, climate breakdown takes many forms. the costs are many. Here is coastal erosion on the only road in and out of this peninsula village. One village and we used half our entire budget. Prepared for climate breakdown anyone? @scottishgreens.org

The ultra-rich have unchecked power, manipulating parties, media, and economies. Billionaires like Roman Abramovich, potentially owing £1bn in unpaid taxes to HMRC, show how elites avoid accountability. One rule for them, another for the rest of us. @scottishgreens.org

Secured regional £2 bus fare cap trial.

Secured regional £2 bus fare cap trial.

🤑Bus fares in Scotland are extortionate.

🟢Scottish Greens have been campaigning for a £2 fare cap on Scottish buses.

🚌Today, Greens secured funding from the Scottish Government to introduce a landmark regional trial.

Just had an interview with "Good Morning Scotland" at 735am. Speaking up about A96, this conversation needs to be one centred on sustainable approaches to transport needs. Let's get beyond the narrative of "more roads" and into community led solutions, active travel, rail, and public transport.

When will we wake up? The Fairness Foundation reports that nearly two-thirds of Britons fear the ultra-rich's political influence is eroding democracy, driving economic shocks and environmental crises, and deliberately destabilizing social cohesion—risking decline or even collapse.

The UK climate and nature bill was scrapped after a backroom deal with Labour backbenchers—an appalling betrayal after years of development & backing from nearly every UK local council, in order to pursue unsustainable & damaging growth that is destroying people and planet.
