Tremendous to have a confluence (nice choice of group noun) of geographers in da house!

Thank you Rob for tonight’s conversation of deliberately meandering responses at RGS. A good opportunity for a modest confluence of geographers to meet up, listen, & talk shop - great evening.
I have my copy & looking forward to an immersion, a few dips & the occasional paddle.

Attended a talk about ‘Sarn Helen’ as part of #Llandovery Wild Literature festival, by author Tom Bullough & Jackie Morris illustrator (of the book) author & artist. Began to read it & enjoying the ‘journey’ a lot! Poetic, heady words, animals nested in sacred geometry& painted in tonal hymns.

Environmental Lunacy Project: Squirrel Moon - UK NAEE Traditionally, the second moon cycle of the year in the northern hemisphere has been known as the Snow Moon.

Anyone seen the #FullMoon tonight? We have damp cloudy skies sadly here in Kent. Find out why Prof. Justin Dillon calls it a #SquirrelMoon & why #EnvironmentalLunacy matters. naee.org.uk/environmenta...

UK churchyards are havens for rare wildlife, finds conservation charity Caring for God’s Acre mapped out 20,000 cemeteries and recorded 10,000 species

Mapping & auditing local green spaces can be great fieldwork.
At least 2 articles on cemeteries in #priGeogJounal too. #PrimaryGeography

"These are essays written for a world in motion. Plants that, in dispersal, might teach us what it means to live in the wake of change."

Saving ‘old and wise’ animals vital for species’ survival, say scientists Hunting bigger, more experienced animals eradicates memories and knowledge crucial to group survival, research suggests

As in human societies, the transmission of knowledge is vital to animal cultures. The endangered Egyptian vulture depends on pre-migratory gatherings to share safe routes. With so few elders in the Balkans, juveniles often fly straight over the sea & perish there.

One of the best things about winter's minimalism is the way deciduous trees focus attention on form, texture & the relationship between branches & shards of sky. I'll be sharing some that warm my cockles in winter over the next few weeks. Have any of your favourites bared all yet? #trees #winter

Coexistence means making space—for wildlife, for forests, for rivers to flow freely. It’s not always easy, but it’s essential. What does coexistence mean to you? 🐾💚

I visited the ‘Cathedral of the Pines’ at the National Pinetum in Sussex this weekend.

The sculptural pillars of the trees, the diffuse silvery light through the pine needles & the tall narrow space drawing your eyes up to heaven, meant it really did have the timeless & sacred feel of a cathedral
