It was a pleasure!

Had so much fun speaking with @ejeancarroll.bsky.social and @michelegoodwin.bsky.social on this podcast. If you listen, I'm sure you will see the point of the saying that laughter is the best revenge. E Jean makes our team here at Kaplan Martin LLP laugh all the time.
It was such a joy & honor to help produce this episode.

"Robbie and I are here to show you he can be beaten...I’m an old, 81-year-old woman, and we beat him twice. It can be done..." - E. Jean Carroll
I am still in shock. I still can't QUITE believe this miracle!
And it is thanks to you! My readers have more oomph and pizzazzzz than any readers on Earth.
So that's Champagne I'm shooting out the water pistols.
(KIDDING. It's water, but the great photographer, Elinor Carucci got the shot!!)
Couldn't be more thrilled for @ejeancarroll.bsky.social whose new book about is number 2 on NYT bestseller list.
You no longer have to take my word for it. "Not My Type" is the best book ever written about what it's actually like to be a plaintiff on trial.

We are living in scary times.
But that only makes it more important to celebrate the moments of pure joy and progress.
So here, on the twelfth anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision in United States v. Windsor, is a photo of Edie Windsor hugging/being hugged by my son and his cousin.
@ejeancarroll.bsky.social: “I beat Trump twice.”
I sit down with my good friend, the inimitable E. Jean Carroll, to talk about her new book, “Not My Type”, including wild details on her trials against Trump.

As the lawyer who told @ejeancarroll.bsky.social not to use words that are more than three syllables (frankly, would have preferred two), I can confirm that her new book is just as good as the NYT says it is.

While I am definitely biased, I cannot recommend more highly @ejeancarroll.bsky.social's new book, "Not My Type." It is a great read that gives you a sense of what it was really like at our two jury trials against Donald Trump. youtu.be/mGsCvxyT7n8?...
So proud to be able to call @ejeancarroll.bsky.social my dear friend and bravest client.

“Trump is using military forces to stop a protest — I want y'all to consider what kind of government it appears to be when every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us.”
Doechii at the #BETAwards
This took a while to get done, but I've chronicled my day among the protesters in Los Angeles, and the idea that this is anything but a celebration of cultural heritage and a firm, nonviolent demand to protect family, friends and neighbors is totally ridiculous.

The most important story of our time is not what Donald Trump wants to do, but what the people of this country allow him to do.
Trump uses fear as a weapon.
He spread it effectively for two months with his shock and awe/flood the zone barrage.
But in recent weeks as he’s faced a series of defeats, the people have grown less afraid.
So he needs to make a power move to reinstill fear.
Don’t let him have that effect.
At the World Pride fair, we're giving away free books. Parents were kept coming up and thanking me for all the work we do with parents to help kids.
I can't believe we have to say this, but RFK Jr has it all wrong on autism. aftvoices.org/rfk-jr-has-i...

“Put another way, when the sick and lame approached Jesus, he did not say, “Depart from me, for thou shalt die anyway.” He healed the sick and fed the hungry and told his followers to do the same.”
From @dahlialithwick.bsky.social:
“It may have taken 100 days to fully metabolize that the Trump administration has no regard for the rule of law. But 100 days have also shown that small acts of defiance and principle are replicable and scalable and effective.” slate.com/news-and-pol...
“Historians should remember this. Stalin’s team were like Komodo dragons: whether they kiss you or bite you, you die of their poison.”

As others have noted, it’s truly wild to see Terry Doughty write this. He is one of the most extreme MAGA judges appointed in Trump’s first term, author of many wacky, hard-right rulings reversed on appeal. When even he is appalled by an illegal deportation—it’s a sign of something. Wow.
Time and again, in these deeply troubling (even scary) times, women lawyers, judges and officials are scoring points for courage, along with a no-nonsense application of the rule of law.
Part @robbiekaplan.bsky.social greatness as a litigator is that she fights the procedural stuff with the same vigor as she fights the grand points of law.
She got the Trump Administration to agree that the issue of congestion pricing won’t be decided for 6 months.

This book by Nadezhda (which means "hope") Mandelstam had a huge influence on me as a freshman studying Russian history many years ago in college.
Explains a lot about how I still see the world.
But I'm not ready to lose hope. And the antidote to fear is courage.
While Paul Clement and I were adversaries in U.S. v. Windsor concerning the constitutionality of DOMA, there is no attorney I respect more. Paul practices law in accordance with the highest ideals of our profession. And no one is a better advocate.

My colleagues and I at Kaplan Martin LLP could not be prouder to represent clients who stand up, especially the force of nature named @ejeancarroll.bsky.social.
