This is why I am so skeptical about the “innovation + democratization ” narrative — for one thing, if the “innovators “ that will benefit from the “democratization of tech” are basically people who would like to be acquired by tech giants… it is not democratization. It is a reassurance of power…
Thoughts after reading Ted Chiang's commentary about AI-generated art: rather than focusing on whether AI will democratize art creation, a more important perspective, maybe for me, is examining exploitation in the traditional art world and whether AI has amplified that power imbalance
