We stopped saying "HTML5" and "CSS3" because these terms are outdated. The web doesn't drop major versions, it constantly evolves.
But I wonder how many resumes get passed on because they don't contain those exact strings.
Some recruiter is out there saying "oh, they only know CSS, not CSS3". ๐
Node.js is moving to one major release per year starting with Node 27! ๐
โ
Simpler: Every release becomes LTS.
โ
Predictable: Version numbers now align with the year.
โ
New: A 6-month Alpha channel for early testing.

Nice!
Hey everyone! You might have heard that 40% of Block was laid off. That includes me.
If you're looking for a design technologist (a design-minded front-end dev) then hit me up!

Why don't you just make 10 a little louder and make max="10" and make that a little louder?
I remember using `zoom: 1` a lot for a layout hack fix in ancient versions of IE. I don't think I've ever actually used it for its intended purpose. ๐
"This email is to inform you that..."
You can just say the thing. You don't have to announce your intent to announce.
Recently learned there's a whole math-specific language called MathML that browsers natively support????

Anyone here done an extended Amtrack trip? Curious what your experience was.
I like the idea of taking a train cross country, but could see it being either amazing or awful.
Haha my kid and I finished Luigiโs Mansion 3 last year, was pretty good, but I love your description ๐
Sometimes I feel like quitting web development and joining my brother-in-law on the ranch.
At least cows don't suddenly upgrade to version 5.0 and break the entire farm because the geese aren't on 3.2.4 yet.
Cartoon with a table showing the different planets of the solar system in order closer to farther from the Sun. All of them show 0 deaths and no CSS, except for Earth that has CSS and 117,020,448,575 deaths. Below the table there's a question: coincidence?
comiCSS #109: Coincidence?

November 27, 2023 โ One of those small cartoons that are simple yet fun to code. And it's versatile, too. You can basically change CSS for anything you want: Taxes? it works! Humans? Works too! Tailwind? D'uh!

Agreed!
And to add, it's not always because I'm being vindictive or whatever, I just don't want their content in my life but I wish them the best.
For those of you with Computer Science degrees...
Would you call yourself a "scientist"?
Also, shoutout to my wife for the game she beat: Stardew Valley.
Chalkboard wall with 24 video games written on it, with dates.
Kept track of all the video games my 8yo son and I beat over 2025 on a chalkboard wall. Hereโs the final result!

Just put a bunch of before it until it's centered.
I learned this from someone I used to work with.
I just learned this earlier today! The person that told me also said something about throwing a pot of water out the backdoor.
Got the first panicked call from my parents falling for AI.
Fortunately it was just misinformation and not someone scamming them.
Not a great feeling. Reminded them that if they ever need me to check something, please do call. And that if I ever call them from jail needing $10k, it's not me.
Beautiful ๐
Smalltalk... Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time...
This just felt weird to watch.
Feels like I'm not the target demographic for this ad... even though it's for a CSS feature, and I'm a CSS dev
Just randomly thinking about when the pandemic started and there was some random guy in a lab coat on youtube and he told everyone to wash their groceries with soap to prevent getting covid
And everyone was just like "yeah I believe him, I mean look at him he has a lab coat on"
