I’m noticing some folks are starting to *talk* like AI (“It’s not THIS. It’s not THIS. It’s THIS.”) and makes me fear they’ve outsourced some of the best parts of their minds.
Just say the thing. The “not this” throat-clearing bullshit preamble sucks and dilutes your fucking point.
OMG what a sweet baby. (And the pretzel toy is adorb 🥨) How old is he?
Ohhh, hi Moose! What a sweet face 💜
Root canal ✅ Woof. Heavy painkillers are not for me so I’m riding it out with ibuprofen.
Please shower me with photos of your beautiful pets and visiting bird friends. Thank you in advance.
Humans are like “we needed this” and it’s just watching smart and kind humans in space and on the ground at their best, doing awe-inspiring, history-making work and showing humanity and care to each other and making us all ugly-cry and not think about the horrors here on earth for a moment, nbd.
FFS, I saw a video in which an influencer shared the “amazing smoothie hack” of storing peeled bananas in Tupperware to save yourself the time of peeling a goddamned banana.
Of course!
The. Rise. Of. Cognitive. Surrender.
Study finds that people who use GenAI chatbots rely on them 80% of the time, and develop almost no capacity to recognize when a chatbot is feeding them faulty information.

This is very cool and while I’m no cartographer, I am glad to pass this info along
“she has deep knowledge of women’s pay…That research has included the role that discrimination plays in pay gaps between men and women. Goldin won her Nobel for advancing understanding of women’s labor-market outcomes.”
Between the ornithological bird and the cartoon bird, what do I choose, you ask?
I choose chaos.
As the detention memo notes:
This is, without exaggeration, the smartest, clearest discussion I have heard regarding AI in the workplace. You should listen.
I need everyone to listen to this episode of CANNED pls
When I die, if you turn my image into a shitty computer facsimile of me I swear to God I will rise up from the grave and haunt you
I have lived in Los Angeles for nearly two decades and I have never experienced the kind of yellow smog that used to define this city

and she asked all the women in the room to stand up because (paraphrased) “i wouldn’t be here without all of you.” such an amazing moment.

I recently went back through the bajillion screenshots of things on my phone to prune them and some of you prob have no idea a comment you prob said as an aside meant so much to me at the time. In one hard era especially, kindnesses I screengrabbed were absolutely carrying me through it. Thank you.
Rebooked on a flight after weather threw some curveballs last night. Hello from the middle seat I am grateful to have after two canceled flights but also where all 5’10” of me is ready to give a power point to folks called MIDDLE SEAT GETS ARMRESTS. Thank you.
I’m not talking about keeping warm when you’re cold. We all do that. I’m talking about a design trend that really seems like it goes out of its way to make our hands less… capable?threatening? more subdued? Hard no.
Our hands are like the ONE part of our bodies men aren’t usually trying to police, and something about it being on-trend to cover them like some demure little helpless creatures drive me nuts and feels hella fucked up.
What women do w their bodies/clothes is nobody’s business but this long sleeve trend that covers most of the hand? That makes us look like helpless toddlers playing dress-up? Do you think that’s a coincidence? Bc we sure as hell can’t make a fist and do much of consequence if we’re fucking w that.
Seattle and Seattle-adjacent, I beseech thee 👇
If @katelovesmath.bsky.social wrote it, you know it’s going to be smart and good 👇
And in stark contrast to (*gestures broadly at everything humans are wrecking*) here are three people who literally just decided to be decent rather than harmful.
Among other projects, I’ve been working on a crime series w/ a Canadian production team. In a zoom meeting, we unpacked U.S. v Canadian gun framing/laws for each other and the level of surprised “wow i don’t think anyone here would ever think of that” in both directions was kind of incredible
