Same! But they're so bloated they can shut down and still have a VP and org XD So I'm guessing it costs more to end the contract than write it down as a loss?
Future of Unity is bound up in the rapidly sinking VR ship (which is in part why so much effort is going into switching to Godot and similar). Not sure what to make of "we're still here" press release against Meta announcement - Feels like an attempt to calm the waters a bit based on an old deal?
In this era, leadership is there to focus on profitability for the investor class. That's it. It begins and ends there. Follow the money. This isn't rocket science (or any kind of science). Also the best of them possess the dark triad. Why the fuck we worship this like it's expertise is beyond me.
Take I'm pretty sure is not hot, really more like deep-freeze: We haven't had a tech CEO that understood their technology since the early 1990s. That's not what CEOs are for under the post-dotcom v1 model, and it's a big part of the reason we're so deeply fucked right now.
Every one of these...
Some more stickies.

Fuuuck next you’re gonna tell me Musk doesn’t know much about cars, actually, my whole worldview is shattered
“addressing problematic internal culture of design teams is not enough. As an industry we must also confront the real-world socio-political outcomes of our practice”

"..a dogmatic adherence to cognitive obviousness and celebrates frictionless interaction as the ultimate design accomplishment. Users should never have to question an interface. “It doesn’t matter how many times I have to click, as long as each click is a mindless, unambiguous choice.”"
"As platforms became more commodified – UX designers have progressively become more reliant on existing work, creating a feedback loop that promotes playfulness, obviousness and assumed trust at the expense of user safety."
Weaponised Design essay hitting differently today than it did in 2018.
The serial killer is also played by Matthew Lillard (Cereal Killer) and I choose to believe every movie starring Hackers actors is in the same universe, so there’s that
Nobody told me opening to FNaF is a remake of Robert Flanagan’s “Happiness In Slavery” video which is basically Tetsuo
It’s important to have furry community because friends will commiserate when things aren’t great, but furs will buy you a kevlar chew toy. (thx @yerfington.bsky.social )

Hihi! Miss you, hope you're doing well!
Meanwhile, if you're at all interested you should consider dropping by the weekly meets (on Sunday). Theres also a 1000+ user load test coming up which is going to be chaos, but usually a lot of fun
What I *can't* post about is the number of exciting projects that are being built with this right now, but I'm not joking when I call this next-gen... some very cool stuff coming down the pipe
If you've been curious about what's cooking in next-gen VR, here's a good quick vid on Basis VR.
In spite of all the recent news and *gestures widely to everything* I'm actually super optimistic about this one slice of the world - incredible energy, incredible engineering - really good people
New suit for job interviews
Listening to Windham Hill Records Sampler '86 on vinyl and remembering a time when my (evangelical) family once told me that Windham Hill was "New Age" and so probably demonic and dangerous and... yeah those smooth-jazz saxophones really weren't the demons that got us in the end, huh?
