Looking to gather a small network of primaries to work with me in researching techniques for maximising the links between reading and writing. Ideally year 4/5 and some year 6 and ideally Chesterfield/Sheffield area or close proximity. Shares greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for this - really useful listen. ✨

I’m just really curious as to why these Ofsted proposals are coming before the Curriculum and Assessment review due to be published this year? How can Ofsted propose an effective measure of something that is set to change imminently?

Very much agree about the importance of connecting with the learner. We can positively foster learning if we focus on the learner’s interpretations of the curriculum and a pedagogy that encourages them to develop their interpretations.

This is so true. I also received a beautiful guided tour from a 5 year old who showed me her favourite place to hide her treasure of ribbons, a conker and a stick was under a plant pot. “SSH!” 🤫
Pure happiness in a day ✨

I loved facilitating our EYFS forum today. I feel very privileged to learn from and work with such a brilliant bunch of EY Leaders. To help us also channel our inner @ruthswailes.bsky.social & @aaronearlyyears.bsky.social
we now all have a copy of A Child Centred EYFS ✨

One of the many reasons why @marymyatt.bsky.social is simply brilliant is because she makes sense of the things that have become so unnecessarily complicated.
A beautiful piece offering clarity around meaningful assessment of the foundation subjects ✨✨

Have you attended any of @emmaturner75.bsky.social’s training? I’d hugely recommend attending if you get the chance. I love revisiting her books too - I think I’d still be stuck in my own thinking without them! 🤭

We’ve given it over to individual year group teams to plot out their time so some units are blocked whereas others build weekly. It’s a case of trial and error at the minute. Attendance is a key factor as well. I’m hopeful the Curriculum and Assessment Review makes this so much more manageable. 🤞🏻

So we’re looking at the progression of vocabulary and specifying the exact words that build meaning in each concept to really slim things down…🤞🏻

Another thing I’ve been exploring is long term vocabulary acquisition within and across concepts. It’s really helped me think about our curriculum as interconnected webs of words carrying meaning. Revisiting vocabulary over time in whatever guise strengthens these connections.

I’m really interested in this! I’ve used @emmaturner75.bsky.social book, Simplicitus. It helped me think about sequencing depending on the type of curriculum product. Some units build to final products; others gradually widen understanding like building jigsaws.I then started looking at timetabling.

One week left! I can’t help but wonder if a more considered approach would be to focus on the Curriculum & Assessment Review, then Ofsted could explore a complementary approach? Surely this is an opportunity for all parties to connect & collaborate at each step? To get it right this time ✨ #EduSky
