Time flies and I have a tournament tomorrow. Hopefully I'll do well. Time to put my practice to work :)

Taken awhile, but my first tournament since February is the 18th. Been learning (and will play) the Kings Indian Defense and will finally apply my learning of the Italian too.

Gas prices are unreasonable, it's getting difficult to actually plan for tournaments. I'm hoping my next one is in June, as I don't just wanna sit on my rating here.

4/4 and a trophy later, I'm quite happy with my performance. Hung a piece (while being up 2 pieces) in game 2, so there's that. Crushed the other rounds. :D

I love this about chess. You learn a new opening, go to practice against actual players online, and over the course of a day, no one plays it at all lmao. I just wanna play an Italian and just get used to the structures badly

Genuinely the most boring time of the year to play tournaments. None that happen near me or the ones that are close by are on weekdays when I work

I kinda forgot to talk about the last tournament of the year. Perfect score of 4/4! Going into next year with a new peak rating. I already have a team event and Congress scheduled, we'll see how that goes

Next week is the last tournament of the year, hoping it goes well. Already looking at a tournament in Chicago next year.

This Saturday should be an interesting tournament. 3rd seed, out of 16 people. Hopefully I can play much much better than my last one where I went 2.5/4, but I felt like I didn't deserve 1 of those wins.

Why is my online chess so much better than my OTB? Is because I just go "fuck it, we ball" so much more online and it works or something? I'm not understanding myself again

You're playing in a 90+30 game, your opponent puts you in check. While in check, you forget that you are, calculate for around 10 minutes only to realise you're in check again and redo everything

Love how you can be 1st for points, on the first line, but if your team signs someone who has a higher overall than you, down to minors you go. NHL 14 is crazy sometimes

True question for those who play online chess. Do you have the piece notation be a figure or a letter?

Extra context here. Magnus was already fined earlier in the day and was arguing about the last round (round 9) of the day. He was DQ'd for round 9 and it killed any chance for a medal. He said he would change tomorrow too, but FIDE stuck with it. Then, he just left the world rapid and blitz.
