Iron deficiency is always caused by something.

🥩inadequate intake
💫impaired absorption (celiac, IBD, bariatric surgery, meds, foods)
🏃increased needs (vigorous exercise, pregnancy)
🩸losses (menstrual, GI)

Treatment should always involve finding AND addressing the cause.
