UPDATE: Great news! I got power back in my neighborhood!

The electric company came by last night and got the power back up and running. Aside from spotty Internet and a dead dryer, everything’s pretty much back to normal. I can resume my projects again without any more hiccups! HUZZAH!

At this point, I am dying to finally move to the mainland.

If this is how it’s gonna be after every major typhoon, then I’d rather not stick around when the next one comes.

I really shouldn’t complain, but it’s insane that we’ll be out of electricity for up to ten days.

It’s been three years since Mawar. How has our local government not come up with a better, faster recovery plan this time? This is literally the same situation all over again. It’s nuts.

Luckily, in the meantime, there’s a cafe near my place with working electricity. Which means I can connect to the internet there.

I’ll also try to get some more art out while there. I’m very sorry for the lack of art this week. I tired getting some out before Sinlaku hit but ran out of time. (2/3)

UPDATE: Unfortunately, the govt. of Guam has announced it will take another 5-10 days to fully restore power.

My area is still without electricity, so it looks like I’ll have to wait until either the 23rd or 28th. One would think they’d have built a better plan after Mawar, but I guess not. (1/3)

Sinlaku is originally the name of a legend from the Federated States of Micronesia. It’s the name of the goddess of nature and breadfruit of Kosrae. At least five typhoons have been named after her.

Follow-Up #3: Still getting pounded out here. Sinlaku stalled for hours last night and is only now starting to move out of our range.

The gusts won’t let up till later today and the storm won’t leave till tomorrow morning. Hopefully we’ll have power again in the next 48 hours.

All things considered, this isn’t nearly as bad as Mawar was three years ago. At least this time, we had a week’s worth of warning. So we should come out of this much better.

Follow-Up #2: Sinlaku arrived late last night. We’re on its outer rim, but it’s still hammering us.

The winds will start dying down tomorrow. Power’s gone out thrice this morning, so I’ll be logging off for a while. Hopefully it can be restored soon. Otherwise, I’m safe with my family.
