A picture of a rather dilapidated copy of "The picture of Dorian Gray" There is visible water damage to the cover and the plastic cover is yellowing. Obviously, not evident from the picture but there is a truly foul musty smell emanating from it!

Last week, a gentleman returned this rather dilapidated copy of this famous book to us after 50 years. He had found it in his attic!
Presumably this means there is a pristine copy somewhere in our libraries....

NASA’s Artemis II Reveals the Basin in Full
For the very first time, the mysterious Orientale Basin has been fully photographed. Thanks to Artemis II, humanity now sees the Moon in unprecedented detail, reminding us of the endless wonders beyond Earth. 🛰️

After reading Wolf Worm I get to add a new fear to my list of mundane things that @tkingfisher.com has made me rethink:
1: Deer in my backyard along the wood line
2: Falling into glitchy spaces of video games
3: A raccoon friend on my deck near my glass patio door (newly unlocked!)

tuxedo cat stuck behind locked supermarket doors

tuxedo cat stuck behind locked supermarket doors

Just seen on the local Facebook that the Supermarket cat was locked in the supermarket this Easter Sunday!

Thankfully he was let out of this tomb, reenacting the easter story.

vertical image of a still retention basin and sunlit sky. the sky is split starkly down the middle, clear on the left, gray clouds on the right, sun at the center. the cloud line is reflected perfectly on the basin surface below the horizon.

not ‘shopped. not cropped. not stock.

straight from the phone of stormwater inspector Lindsay Schiel snapped yesterday at a basin in Hudson.

Video

Short clip of the amazing wagon from the Oseberg ship burial dated to the 800s.

Two women were buried in the ship, one younger and one old.

Besides the wagon, the grave goods contained 2 oxen, 14 horses, 4 dogs, 4 sleds, 3 beds, kitchen wares and a large amount of textiles.

there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for

I just threw together a website visualizing this ICE contract data! You can browse through the companies and their contracts, and filter them by state micahflee.github.io/ice-contracts/

Stones arranged in the shape of a ship, located in a forest clearing.

Stones arranged in the shape of a ship, located in a forest clearing.

Ship setting in Gotland, Sweden that measures 18x5 meters (54x15 feet).

The legend says that it is the grave of Tjelvar - the first man to arrive to the island of Gotland during the Bronze Age, making it approx. 3000 years old. Burned bones were found in it, so there may be truth to the it.

There are many things I love about the information age – ease of research for obscure topics primary among them

Communication with distant friends I might otherwise never have met

But I don’t believe the human psyche was made to endure ongoing awareness of this much sustained cruelty & injustice

I am so glad that some of you continued on to other endeavors. That show was one of the break through shows for me that helped me realize I wasn’t alone in my experiences. I was so sad to learn of all the terrible things that happened behind the scenes. Keep up all your good work!

If you’re in my circle of friends out here, chances are you’ve been maliciously placed on this list —which seems dedicated not to blocking people who support MAGA & related atrocities, but rather to silence those of us speaking out against them

Please report (for all the good that will do)

Every ocean disaster story is either "they did everything right and planned perfectly then 1800 one in a million things lined up in a row to kill them" or "they rowed out 4 miles into a category 2 hurricane in a rubber dinghy with no life vests while drinking brandy from the bottle and drowned"
