Girl Dinner was great and I recommend it highly.

A fluffy gray cat sitting on a sofa arm with her back legs hanging down, one on each side.
A close up of the fluffy gray tabby’s back end flattened over the sofa arm.

It took until 6:45 to finish cooking (started at 4!) but yow that was a good smoked chicken.
The chicken looks really good and is taking foreverrrrrrrr. I just hope it’s finally at 165° by 6:30. I’m hungry. The beans are ready tho, so if it’s not, I can snack on them.
this is an excellent read for anyone looking to get up to speed on rfk jr. and peptides
I should have gotten the grill thermometer set up and I should be monitoring it, but you know, one of the good things about smoking a chicken is you do not have to be exact. Sure a steady 350° is ideal, but it can bounce all around & go up to 400° and be fine.
And if it’s not, we have black beans.
I am out of practice wrt to smoking chickens. I’m sure it’ll be fine.
Tried to hang my bike back up. But as I was standing o the top step of the ladder, I ran out of upper body strength fairly fast when the damn thing wouldn’t catch on the hooks. So I’ll just let B do it.
Ok. Start black beans in the crock pot and then some more caffeine and then in a couple of hours, start smoking a chicken! (There are other tasks on the list but they’re not fun ones that will lead to a delicious dinner)
Chatting with my Dad (it’s his birthday, completing an 8 day period in which it’s mine, my Mom’s & his birthday) & telling him how weird it is to my every instinct on skin care be wrong bc of 🤬 eczema & his Dad had it! So I guess it was always coming for me & just late to arrive.
Adds Santorini to top of list of places to visit.
A seal point and gray mix cat sits mostly loaf style on a folded washable waterproof pee pad.
This is one of the pads I pee on! (Obviously clean at the moment) I sit on it because it’s Mine.
A sedum in bloom in a clay pot. The flowers are small, yellow and star-shaped.
Sedum is looking pretty good this year. Benign neglect suits it.
I regret to inform that the gross tactic of some kind of thick jelly on the face (Aquaphor in my case, but I think there’s vegan alts to petroleum jelly) before getting sweaty does indeed lessen eczema effects. Just remember to keep a bandana handy to wipe sweat off.
For months, we kept having too many extra water fountain filters so I’ve been skipping them on autoship. Now, of course, we’ve run out. The cats will have to drink from bowls of still water like peasants. Tbh, it’s ok. It means one part can go thru the dishwasher & another can full dry.
A: Cetaphil Restoraderm Eczema Rapid Relief Cream absolutely works. B: you will also absolutely know when it’s worn off/evaporated/whatever. Sigh. Time to try the Aquaphor before workout thing. Yuck.

Leopold maxing out the cuteness this morning. Alas, I must get up.
Doggie in a biker’s backpack going up 15th St NW DC, at Mass…. And my drawing to same scene, picasso-like face on the pup. I’ll paint it one of these days!! #etegami #絵手紙
My aunt has previously recommended to me calling up repair companies and asking them what they think are viable options or at least repairable ones. Maybe a local company would end up recommending one of the models at Costco. I had no idea Bosch made heat pumps! One lives and learns.
A four week old brown tabby with white mittens and face wonders what her name will be.
I’m four weeks old today!
My mom wants to name my sister and me after the twins in the Parent Trap.
Will it be: Susan & Sharon? Annie & Hallie? Or Hayley & Lindsey, (since we’re not identical)?

Next up: Girl Dinner / Olivie Blake.
Notable exception: Edinburgh Nights series by T.L. Hochu bc the protagonist absolutely is not one of these well-off types (tho she has to deal with them) and also Ropa Moyo is just awesome in general. Highly recommend that series.
I almost bailed out of King Sorrow early on, but I’m glad I stuck with it. There’s been a run of “well off kids at fancy universities get involved in magic” books almost all of which I did not care for & at first, this felt a bit like that. But then it went unexpected places. Enjoyable read.
Also: avoid Samsung like the plague if you haven’t already had cause to hate their appliances with the fire of a thousand suns. (You may be able to tell I have. The fridge sucked, but omg the washer/dryer still makes me spitting mad)
Like they made them so they could be repaired and parts were easy to come by (neither of which was true for Samsung). Don’t know if that holds for the dishwashers, but if you have to buy now, something to consider.
Well the 2nd best according to Wirecutter is a Maytag & we got one of their refrigerators in 2021 and it’s great. While we were trying to keep the crappy Samsung that came w/the house limping along until the refrigerator could be delivered the repair guy said Maytag was good bc they were repairable+
A post about someone else’s new dishwasher led me to Wirecutter and Bosch sucks now? Whoa. The one we have is fine and should last us quite a while into the future, but I guess can’t just assume we’ll replace with the same. That’s a shame.
