This August is definitely #SmallCopper time in the #chalkgrasslands!
Adore this gem, all 36-40mm of its loveliness. It's normally speedy but today they were either keeping out of wind down on the chalky paths, looking like orange bows among grass ribbons. or feeding in swaying favourite flowers.

#ŚląskaSwifts update: sitting on my balcony after work when who should drop in but one of the parents still feeding young? Am not convinced both are here any more so will have to check the chicks out quickly as one of them might be missing out. Box 3 still has a parent coming to feed its 1 chick.

Labour HQ can mock “Your Party” but it is objectively an enormous failure that the Left has felt it necessary to set up an alternative. Even Tony Blair managed to keep Labour a broad church. “Your Party” isn’t just a new party - it’s an indictment of Starmer’s immoral policies and dire leadership.

Stop the cull!! A so-called "scientific" policy based on cherry-picked data and mass slaughter. Badgers are dying for nothing. 😡
“We’re encouraging the [UK] government to protect existing access & extend access to the countryside, particularly in places like Dorset where there’s a real lack of meaningful access to nearby countryside. This isn’t about a mass trespass; it is about sort of asserting a historic customary right.”
The government's planned changes to PIP eligibility will now NOT come in to effect next autumn.
Instead the PIP assessment review (which will include consulting disabled people about) will first be conducted.
Changes to eligibility will only be considered after that has concluded.
Well, the #pitcherplants season is just about over for the year. I made two trips to the bogs this year. Both of them were on foggy days. I'll be back out there next year. #photography #landscapephotography #EastCoastKin #bogplants #bogs #sarracenia

1/2 #speciesaday no. 611 is Red Star-thistle (Centaurea calcitrapa). Nationally Rare, Endangered and Section 41. National stronghold appears to be the East Sussex Downs. Until two days ago, I have only ever seen one or two plants at a time, then I found a pony paddock covered in it!
