I’m not sure if this has any bearing on it, but I read that Trump has had a longstanding beef with Harvard. I would be interested in the details if anyone has more information.

Harvard may be Ivy League, but a large % of their students come from poor and middle class families. Harvard pays their full tuition, room & board. It’s charity is funded by endowments.
