Latest in @theatlantic.com The Ukrainians are now longer pretending that Donald Trump's USA is their friend. Their honesty is important as they seem to understand how much Trump is helping Putin and how important it is that Europe stick together. Gift Link. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
Ukraine will become a key ally to Europe if Europe has to deter Russia on its own in case the US scales back or withdraws from NATO-Danish military expert Anders Puck Nielsen
In his new video, @anderspucknielsen.dk explains that Ukraine becomes a key ally in this scenario⤵️

1/ The Russian army has been taken over by an organised crime syndicate, says a Russian journalist. The mass recruitment of criminals means that crimes and corruption of all sorts – murder, torture, extortion, prostitution, drug and alcohol smuggling – are now routine. ⬇️
If Hungary can free itself from the rule of a corrupt Russian agent, the USA can too.

This 🧵 from yesterday by @daractenus.bsky.social [based in neighbouring Romania] is an excellent example of how Orbán, Trump, Vance, Putin, Farage shout about how great Hungary is, while the reality is the opposite.

"The race is being closely watched worldwide thanks to Orbán’s outsize influence as the preeminent EU ally of both U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin."

Hungary… WOW 🤩🇭🇺
1/5. Orbán pioneered a model whereby oligarchs trade the fascist memes and electoral tricks they use to stay in power. He made Budapest a node between Moscow and Washington of the international far right.
Gen. Patton’s grandson, BEN PATTON: I visited one of Ukraine's command-and-control centers with my team. It was safe, 30 or 40 miles from the front. You go inside, and it looks like Newark Airport on steroids.
🇺🇦 Volodymyr Zelenskyy:
📌 “We cannot even talk about withdrawing from Donbas as a compromise option. If we withdraw from Donbas, it would give the Russian Federation the opportunity to occupy our most fortified areas without any losses.” 👇
Trump announces new tariffs on countries supplying weapons to Iran (which have primarily been Russia and China). Although that does require Trump to accept information that tells him Russia is doing that.
Timothy Snyder (American historian): Trump lost this war in every possible way - morally, legally, politically, economically, reputationally, and strategically.

“Pray for Epstein.”
🇺🇦 Brigadier General Pavlo Palisa, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine:
🔷 The cost of Russia's advance in the Donetsk region has doubled compared to last year. For each captured square kilometer, more than 300 occupiers are killed and wounded.
We claim to want the Europeans to step and take responsibility for Ukraine... and then we go and back the country blocking them from spending $100bn on Ukraine. 🤔
❗️Bloomberg leaked a transcript of a phone call between Viktor Orban and Vladimir Putin on October 17, where Orban offered to help Putin. The conversation took place before a planned meeting between Trump and Putin in Budapest, which was later canceled.

MAGA. Make America Go Ape.. Well, Trump and his fellow apes are apparently also causing havoc to the intelligence services of the US. Who thought electing an ape for president was a good idea? Ah, half of the US population apparently 🫤
These attackers, are they in the room with us right now?
The idiot president was put in power by the American people, twice!! That’s the underlying issue here. They gave him impunity and let him get away with anything. Now everyone will suffer. It shouldn’t be a surprise to them that electing an idiot for office would cause havoc, still they insisted. :(
New post out from @ldfreedman.bsky.social
Iran has turned into a fiasco for the Americans with no good options left.
Will they be able to negotiate something with Iran?
What military operations might they try?
Will they just walk away?

The Vikings didn’t call it Kyiv though. Garðaríki was the most common name, meaning “the realm of cities” Hólmgarðr – used for Novgorod (an important city in the realm) Kænugarðr as the Old Norse name for Kyiv
Thanks 🙏
Since I was young, I’ve made a hobby out of reading up on the history behind major world events. Lately that’s meant Ukraine, Russia, and the Kyivan Rus—and its ties to Scandinavia. Understanding the past helps make sense of the present i think.
🇭🇺👀 Orban is massively buying votes in Hungary's poorest regions.
This is revealed in a large-scale investigation, "The Price of a Vote," jointly conducted by six independent Hungarian projects.
Party representatives are traveling to villages and offering local residents $150-$170 per vote.
