just this week:
-- OpenAI killed Sora
-- Disney subsequently cancelled its investment in OpenAI
-- Wikipedia is now banning LLM-generated content
...tell me again how this is all "inevitable" and you have to "get on board or get left behind"?

Tbh I'm guessing Amazing Guardians was named when they rounded out their roster and were left with 4 heroes who didn't fit elsewhere, and 2 happened to be Spider-folks
Being fair, "Unbreakable X-Men" isn't really a thing in the comics either, ArcSys accidentally timing well with an elseworlds-doomed-future miniseries is hardly matching anything established (hell, that comics team *did* feature a Spider-Girl :P
this is like the third time a studio has pulled this excuse when including genAI and it's the third time i've had to say that this issue of genAI placeholder assets is redundant because game devs had a more intuitive solution 30 years ago
this was my favorite litmus test because as a football fan who knows the players I recognized Virgil van Dijk in the original gameplay immediately, but I was like “who is this guy?” when I saw the DLSS5 re-face. my brain did not know who I was looking at and it made me confused.
What's interesting is that The Game Business had already reported the TiMi links on February 12th. The Gamefile headline, being "secretly funded", is where the public conspiracy angle seems to come from.
The "fully funded" element is similar - originally said back in 2022 when they were founded.
"I'm a voice actor and I can't imagine ever being so entitled as to complain about my character's looks and demand the developers alter it to MY specifications. Peak narcissism. She should have "held off on posting" permanently."

Mamdani: [direct to camera] Did you know you can check out board games at your local public library? 😊
France is about to replace Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom, and other platforms with its sovereign video-conferencing app, "Visio," for public officials.
It's set to save €1 million/year in licensing fees.
(Just leave the Hinterlands asap and return later! That’ll make sense in context of DA:I 😅)
Inquisition is usually cheap as chips, is available to play on most modern hardware, is the better game in almost every way and Veilguard is better for having played it imo
If you enjoy it, then hopping straight to Veilguard OR returning to Origins are both options.
Veilguard is fine in isolation, but in so many ways it’s been built to exist as a part of a pair with DA:I, as well as a finale for the series as it stands. Relatively major arcs would come across a lot flatter as they rely on travelling with returning cast in DA:I for it duration to humanise them
I really enjoyed it, its merits certainly outweighed some clear and bittersweet flaws. I would however actively recommend it never be someone’s first foray into that world.
While as a fan I’d love to recommend starting at the beginning, I’d say start with Inquisition if you want to try Veilguard
His legacy will live on, not just the successes: Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, Modern Warfare, Titanfall, (EA) Star Wars: Jedi, Apex Legends & Battlefield (Studios era); but also everything those projects laid the groundwork for and ultimately will inspire.
RIP Vince Zampella.
Truly tragic news to hear about Vince. It’s hard to overstate how positive an influence he and his team managed to be over the past couple decades, in spite of being right in the middle of the “AAA” machine. His passion for game dev always felt clear & present

Pretty sure Geoff only still does The Game Awards as an excuse to produce new Muppets content, and for that, he's a hero.
oh my god not 2 days before release

Okay, the crowd going nuts like someone just scored a touchdown at the Super Bowl all *through* the KDH performance is a hell of a thing to see hear/see:
Bonus: the core crew of Milo Ventimiglia, Michael Rooker, Frankie Adams & John Eric Bentley, along with a scenery chewing turn from Kiernan Shipka were an entertaining group to listen to, even if it was all very standard military action cheese. Adams’ 50/50 particularly was underserved in a fun role
Yet despite my own meandering thoughts? As with the lingering feeling that most of the narrative was in lead David Mason’s mind? If potentially nothing was real, I’m left feeling at a loss… are there going to be answers to lingering questions via Endgame updates? If not, what was the point?
On its own merits, viewed as what it is, not what many expected, it’s an entertaining few hours leading into the next of CoD’s continued attempts to build an extraction game… let’s just hope this time they actually build upon it.
After DMZ, Outbreak, MWZ and now this, it’s the least barebones
Direct comparisons to prior single player experiences in the series of course fare terribly for BO7. Especially if you attempt to compare features. This is much closer to an evolution of MWii’s Raids, another flawed-with-potential experiment.
lack of in-game vs pre-vis cutscenes particularly irks
A choice that for me? Mostly worked. As a silly, psychedelic co-op romp I had fun. Boss battles - something the series has experimented with of late - were (imo) suitably absurd.
Actually having multiplayer operators all (I think?) exist as characters from the narrative is a positive change too.
Unlike with the prior “expand-alone” that Activision released two years ago as MWiii, I didn’t find BO7 a functionally unfinished feeling, incoherently-written mess, tho there is plenty to criticise.
Having the entire narrative (potentially) be one extended hallucination was… a choice.
I have… a lot of mixed thoughts on Black Ops 7’s non-Zombies narrative, i.e. the Co-op missions that set the stage for the PvE Extraction shooter.
I’m intentional not calling it the single player, or the campaign, even the game itself forgoes that, clearly noting it’s “Co-op Campaign”, a first?
"World's first potential trillionaire has killed 600,000 people, including 400,000 children" is the only headline that anyone should ever read about Elon Musk
Last chance to turn it off.

Gambling is an intrinsically vampiric industry, it makes nothing and adds nothing, and taxing it more heavily is a plan with no drawbacks
