The way Apple lets you exclude apps from iCloud backup is almost comically terrible UX. You can’t find the option in the app Settings pane; you have to dig into the iCloud Backup pane five layers deep, and then the list is organized by backup size rather than alphabetical.

Finally found it, if anyone else is looking for it, turn on iCloud backup first, then go to iCloud > Storage > Backups > Tap current device name

Where exactly do I find this? I kept digging through the iCloud settings and I still can’t find this…

I’ve managed to nail down the conditions to replicate this.

If you’re watching a video in full screen and START to swipe the video away to return to the feed but /don’t finish the swipe/, the video returns to full screen and you lose the ability to interact with a Bluesky at all until a force quit.

an ad for the new series “welcome to derry” with the tagline “go back to where IT all began“, except somehow, they highlighted the word “to“ instead of “it“

"oh, don't forget to highlight, in bright red, the two-letter word in the tagline! the two letter word that's kind of the whole point of this clever ad campaign! the two letter word that links this show to the horror movie of the same name!"

Wir müssen so coins kaufen wenn man was signieren will. Und wenn das PDF nicht ein PDF/A ist geht’s dann auch nicht. Riesen spaß.

Yep! Passkeys are great.

DISASTROUS. This means they will send people to horrific situations with no due process — in direct violation of promises the Solicitor General made to the Court in previous cases.

This greenlights sending people to be enslaved in Libya or tortured in any random foreign country.

A six panel comic, three rows of two panels each. Each panel is the same shot: a room with a light bulb dangling from the ceiling by a cord, and a pile of cord on the floor that runs into a hole in the floor. The cord running through the floor in one panel becomes the cord that the light bulb is dangling from in the panel below it.

A small dog enters the room. He grabs the cord and starts to pull it. In the third panel, we can see that he is causing the light bulb in the fifth panel to raise. In the fourth panel, he pulls the cord hard enough to yank the light bulb from the sixth panel through the floor and break it. In the 5th panel, the dog holds the cord with the broken light bulb, and looks up at the fifth panel's light bulb as it is being yanked upward by the third panel's dog. In the sixth panel, the dog is now sitting in pitch black darkness, as the sixth panel's light bulb was removed by the fourth panel's dog and there is no longer any light.

Picture of the VLC booth at CES 2025 showing a big orange traffic cone in the background with the text “6 billion downloads”. Two people wearing cone hats are standing one left the other behind a small counter with a screen on top and several phones displaying the live download count of VLC. The person on the left is wearing a traffic-cone pattern cape and waving his hands.

It was great to meet so many happy users of VLC!

after days of grifters and con men at CES we stumbled upon the booth for VLC. they were all dressed as wizards and told us, "we have nothing to sell, we just decided to show up". i told them I'd been using their software to pirate media for 15 years and they said "keep doing that"

I have uninstalled the Honey extension from my browser.
You should too.
I cant imagine how many times I've lost my favorite creators their cash because of this fucking extension.
