we probably even made eye contact as some of the few gaijin on site 😂 see you next time!

we recorded it and annotated it ourselves with real fencers, we also recorded motion capture data and simulated it with photorealistic renders
local neural nets are necessary for analysis given the immense amount of data that has to be ingested, all the visualizations are done using traditional computer graphics
extremely helpful feedback, it’s mostly men working on this system and i’m not sure how this hasn’t come up before. i’ll pass it on 🙏
the timeline of the system’s use in different events is available on the rhizomatiks website, except for use at the olympics. it changed drastically each time research.rhizomatiks.com/s/works/fenc... additionally, the version that will be shown this weekend was improved specifically for this weekend
the version i worked on does not show right of way, but they may have updated it since—this was at the top of the to do list, even though it is very contentious to detect right of way automatically.
anything that closes the circuit is shown.
the team at rhizomatiks handled the hardware, visualization, & data collection. i handled blade tracking, which meant training multiple custom convolutional neural networks and deploying them across 24 GPUs to track the entire curve of the 1px wide weapons at 60fps in realtime
the fencing visualization system i worked on with rhizomatiks
is coming to los angeles this weekend 🤗
update: it’s also been banned from reddit because they think i’m cia secretly harvesting contacts 🤦🏻♂️
i made an app that checks if your contacts are in the epstein emails myepstein.com apple rejected it from the app store because it “capitalizes on current events” but you can still try it on testflight
i'm having lots of luck with this pattern recently: ask for an interactive explainer of some code, add a "copy to clipboard" tool, paste this to the agent for context.
i'm vibecoding a 3d model that is generative but needs to meet certain topological requirements. i was having trouble asking for what i wanted, so i asked for a face selector and copied IDs to the clipboard. i pasted the IDs with a request ("merge faces like this"), now it works
“vibecoding” is dead. now it’s just “coding”
imagine twitter, but there's a bot is crawling all the tweets and when people post "add an edit button", the bot implements it. what would a fully crowdsourced social media platform look like? and what constraints would keep it from breaking apart?
if someone wants a good masters or phd thesis, they should point one of these tools at the entire github history of OF including all the issues, and ask "make a better toolkit that solves the most common problems and regressions that people run into, and make it easier to vibe code new apps"
these tools will often think there is a y-inversion when there is not, or hallucinate functions that it would make sense for OF to have if it worked like other toolkits, etc.
i use cursor (usually in auto, sometimes i switch between chatgpt, opus, and gemini for persistent bugs), or claude code if it's a web app. cursor can basically handle OF, but OF is so nonstandard in so many ways it would probably be faster to code against the raw libraries a lot of the time.
it is at least 2x harder to vibe code an openFrameworks app than anything for the web (or even python)
after 2.5 years of vibe coding, my biggest takeaway? native apps are dead. iterating for the web is so much faster, has better tooling, and lower overhead. low-latency, multi-projector, 3d, spatial audio, custom hardware—ai will continue to have trouble with these.
oh this app doesn't have an edit button either? ok

i was just helping people in the south pacific with their phones. every single phone was infested with adware that made the phones unusable. if we managed to open facebook it was full of fake “phone cleaner” ads.
if you're enjoying these, please check them on another platform like instagram or youtube. bsky has a 100M upload limit so the videos look terrible.
