In all seriousness, one thing that might be worth doing today:
Tell your Reps and Senators to call Adm. Richard Correll, the Commander of U.S. Strategic Command, which controls the nation's nukes, and remind him of *his* unique responsibility to refuse an illegal order.

To all the young people in New York and across our country who count on gender-affirming care:
I won't let this administration come for you, your doctors, or your lifesaving health care.
Your health care is still legal and protected.
I'll always fight for you.
What a devastating night. Glad to see @senpeterwelch.govpeeps.us voted No and continued to share how the ACA supported my family during a worst case scenario family health crisis this year. Every family should have this same access. youtube.com/shorts/BL6gF...
he just voted No
Chuck, portrayed by Paul Scheer, a member of the Good Place Committee: "He's got a point. The fair thing for us to do is just keep giving up more and more stuff we want, unilaterally, until this demon is finally happy."
Democrats, coming off a historic national protest against fascism and a country-wide electoral sweep:

Sen Welch literally hugging me as I share my family's story with the ACA. This was last Friday. I just reached out to him again encouraging him not to cave!

This exactly.
“Tasted a little tear gas— tasted like fascism”
What Becca said.
We were just denied entry into CECOT — the notorious prison in El Salvador where Mr. Abrego Garcia is being illegally held.
We were there for one simple reason: to check on his well-being, which his family and lawyers have not been allowed to do. We won’t stop fighting.
I love this idea. Off to get postcards...
Canceling my WaPo subscription today. Got rid of NYT a couple of years ago. I subscribed to Wired a few weeks ago. Any suggestions for other bad ass news sources to invest in right now?
another great example along with Wired and Teen Vogue of how real journalism these days can be a lot braver at outlets where no one is trying to get in good with the White House press secretary
they’re out here with us, reporting on what’s happening to us all, instead of trying to get inside access
Trump says he is going to entirely defund the state of Maine if they don’t do as he says
Trump: “We are the federal law. You better do it, you’re not going to get any federal funding if you don’t.”
Gov. Mills: “See you in court”
Good advice! I would just add… provide shelter and safety for immigrants and trans people if you can.
Idea going around: Democratic leadership could ASAP name an "alternate" HHS secretary--someone to provide public updates and health information. And "shadow" leaders for other depts too, with press conferences, policy initiatives, budgets, speeches.
Clearly written description of the current situation.
"It’s not whether they will defy court orders, it’s how often, how much, and for how long."
Perfect.

The Stonewall Riots happened because trans people, particularly of color, rose up against state violence. You can’t even begin to tell the story without our trans ancestors and elders. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/13/n...
“Trump’s order will … prevent transgender and intersex people from obtaining new passports, visas, and trusted traveler documents that reflect who they are and how they are perceived in the world.”
This.
"The New York Times does not get to erase its role in how we got here. It laid the foundation for framing transgender existence as a debate for cisgender people to adjudicate..."
Gender-affirming care saves lives, and I will use the full force of my office to make sure it remains accessible to all who need it. If any Vermonter loses access to their gender-affirming care, I urge them to contact my office. I stand with trans and non-binary people and always will.
Tragically accurate description of the past week.
Montpelier, Vermont today. Hundreds of people out in 10 degrees.
NEW: Elon Musk's takeover is causing rifts in Donald Trump's inner circle. “He’s getting too big for his britches,” says one Trump world source.
