Evazina Gavon is for every autistic high schooler who thought “surely if I get really good at throwing knives they will invite me to parties”
Congratulations!
One of my favorite parts of the Lizeth POV in book two is how thoughtful and patient they are, especially because they would never consider themself a thoughtful or patient person.
Kate Elliot’s Court of Fives is a better example because the worldbuilding is tight, the character is actually passionate about the sport she’s playing, and the politics of sport and public competition are actually explored.
This trope drives me nuts, especially when it doesn’t feel developed, like in ToG. I can understand a king might want to test the skills of a potential employee but why the hell does it involve so much public pageantry? How do the nobles feel about the king literally hiring a guy to kill therm?
The cover of "I have no mouth and I must scream" but it has been changed to "I have no script and I must interact"
A joke inspired by a conversation today with @heymonsterboy.bsky.social
An autistic horror story
nonbinary character: i don't have a sex
their roommate [gender: knight]: don't worry, my liege ... i haven't had sex in years
i love u trans women 💕 the world is more magical and beautiful for having you in it
In this digital illustration, three baby dragons are sheltered from rain by their gigantic mama dragon. They are on a rooftop in front of a cityscape. The babies gaze up at their mom, smiling.
Sheltering the littlest flames
I would not like the “cheating husband infidelity forgive romance” and I am slightly worried for straight women knowing that is a common search term.
I love it when the Amazon algorithm suggests keywords for Skullrunner like “hockey romance” “reverse harem” and “omegaverse” because I too would like to read that version of the book
We can't trust trad publishers to be the gatekeepers of quality.
Andreas literally bleaches his hair just so he can be this.

Absolutely wild to see the takes that Aang is a bad romantic partner because he expects Katara to emotionally support him when he’s struggling, like I thought we all wanted cis men to seek emotional support and Aang survived a genocide???
Yes 100%!!!
My other Katara hot take is she should have said “fuck.”
stay tuned for *unnamed WIP*
this was such a thoughtful review, i'm kind of blown away. kind of staggering to put something in the world and realize that people genuinely get it
Queer activism can be genuinely heartbreaking and hard. It requires so much sacrifice. What we go through to help our communities matters, even when we fail, even when our work goes unrecognized.
I think a lot about Sam and Frodo—how their story is about the hard work and inglorious struggle of making the world a better place. The point is that the struggle matters.
I don’t aim to write queer joy as much as I am to write books where queer struggle has the same mythological weight as the struggles in the fantasy books I grew up reading.
Show me the fanfics where Zuko abdicates to be with Katara because she’s like “look I’m not going to abandon my whole family and culture for you” and so he’s like “okay I guess I’ll come south for you”
Ship who you want, but if you want to do serious feminist analysis, ask yourself why “feminist” storytelling in pop culture is so often reduced to “a woman marries a powerful man and so shares in the power of the patriarchy.” (also something SJM fans could consider!)
Seeing some ATLA discourse pop up so I will throw my hat in with: despite what you think of Katara and Aang, it’s weird to say that Katara should have married Zuko for power, because it’s very clear that women have more power and respect in the Southern Water Tribe than in the Fire Nation
august @regularaugust "Was it the author's fetish or did it serve a purpose" the answer is usually both and people get really uncomfortable trying to wrap their heads around this
Oh MOOD
books that understood the ultimate child fantasy was never to become an adult but a creature of tremendous power and mystery are rarer than they should be
