Now Amazon is ending support for Kindle Fire. This is the second time this has happened to me.

I look back at All the President’s Men, released on this day 50 years ago.
During production, screenwriter William Goldman said, “Expectations are so high on this movie that if the film is only good, it won’t be good enough.”
If only he was here to see how powerful it still is:

I don't like Amazon recommending books to me based on what I've already read. I don't like them trying to "customise" my reading. I don't like any platform which does that. I like the serendipitous, the surprises, the exciting finds I come accross by looking for myself, be that bookshops or online.
The zombies are scarier in Night, as opposed to sometimes being played for laughs in Dawn. They're pretty close in quality but I think this gives Night the edge.
The next one, The Jugger, is a very different kind of story. There's no heist at all. Without spoiling anything, Parker is in a situation where he ends up having to play detective. It's a very slow burn, but has a satisfying payoff.
Wow, you're done already?!
What would be the horror film equivalent of Godfather II or The Empire Strikes Back? Maybe Aliens (although many consider that franchise SF and not horror). Otherwise, the only one I can think of (in my opinion) is...
The Empire Strikes Back ... not because it's in any way bad, but because it left us all hanging for the next 3 years.
On my list. Saw Frankenstein, which I liked.
I love discovering a great new (to me) book series. Kelley Armstrong's "City of the Lost" is a fantastic read with one of the most interesting settings for a thriller that I've ever come across. Enjoying it enormously and looking forward to continuing this series. Highly recommended.
Return of the Jedi. He was apparently Lucas' first choice.
Fun fact: The two leads in Train Dreams were both (separately) in Star Wars. Joel Edgerton was Uncle Owen in the prequels and the Obi-Wan series. Felicity Jones was Jyn Urso in Rogue One.
Trying to watch as many Best Picture nominees as I can. So far, I've seen and enjoyed Bugonia and Train Dreams.
Just had a snowy adventure. Heard what I thought was a dripping noise. Opened the back door and a bird flew in the house. Luckily we were able to get him safely out again.
I will not stop reading new books while neglecting to finish the ones I started
Watching this tonight. It kinda is another version of Who Goes There (The Thing).
Waited on William Hurt once while working at McDonald's, decades ago.
❄️ 👎 ☕️ 👍 🖤
My horror page-a-day calendar mistakenly says that it was a book that inspired the movie. Impossible, because the book was written in the 1980s. Someone needs to do a better job of fact-checking.
You shall not ... pass!
I'd love to see him tackle Silent Night Bloody Night.
Good double feature with Black Christmas (1974). Both involve scary phone calls.
Here is my Spotify holiday playlist. It's not all those songs you hear dozens of times each December. More like a jazz/blues selection of songs with a more somber mood, as if you were in your favorite bar enjoying a holiday evening, maybe.
