The Pitt season 3 is set only four months after season 2--mostly as a means to avoid having to turn over 2/3rds of the cast as the characters rotate out of the teaching ER. I can absolutely see there being a massive freakout online when season 4 comes and they really do that 2/3rds cast turnover

The real trick is for all of this to actually work, it needs to to run as a latency free mostly self contained edge device, and a) it's really hard to get all that tech inside glasses. Like "it might be impossible" hard and b) directly goes against the landlord mentality of service providers

I dunno, I could see why having a heads-up-display doing AR stuff (translate street signs in your vision in real time!) could be cool. It's just the tech isn't actually there for that stuff and also, obviously, all of the Gibsonian nightmare knock on stuff that goes with it.

Anyway, The Pitt finale felt messy and inconclusive in a way that felt very real, and I can see audiences who are used to things being spoon fed to them getting really upset at that.

I really hope that toxic Pitt fandom is super normal about that post-credits scene

Google is phasing out POP3 importing in gmail, and it's one of those things where I'm sure it's going to break some sort of random open source thing last updated in 2008 that's sitting five layers deep in the modern tech stack.

They paid half-a-billion dollars for the IP and only have about 25 years before it hits public domain. You better bet we're going to see a ton of this stuff right away.

Not to wade into the AI discourse right now, but the (repeated) conjecture I see that all writers all enjoy writing is just wrong. Many do! But a lot of them just enjoy having written.

I remember at the end of the first season watching that last episode and honestly being shocked at how EXPLICITLY and NAKEDLY anti-Trumpian-fascism it was, and how Disney was going to message that ... and I guess the answer is they're just going to pretend it isn't even though it comically is.

It's too bad, because the joke was funny, just not as funny as the last joke, and we needed it to be 100% funnier.

(Though Wind River is almost kind of the opposite: generally politics I agree with, and hamhanded whitewashed execution)

But yeah, Sheridan in general is a great example of being able to appreciate the craft and be drawn in by the storytelling while finding the politics kind of odious.

Also, a LOT of the heavy lifting is done by Wylie doing a zillion interviews, so that might be him doing it more as an executive producer (who has a more direct material need for the show to succeed) than as an actor.

It is close to HBO's highest rated show (12m per episode is just slightly lower than Knight of the Seven Kingdoms 13m per episode, and there are 2.5x as many episodes), and it's much longer than most HBO seasons so I imagine they want to have marketing that keeps interest up all season.

I've never seen frame gen work well unless you can consistently get the game to run at 60 native and ideally 90 native. And by consistently I mean NEVER drop a frame below target number. And if you can do that already you can probably hit in 100s on average, and if can do THAT why use frame gen
