Right now there's nothing on the front page of CNN, The Guardian, or the Washington Post about today's landfall of Super Typhoon Sinlaku in a US territory. The NY Times only has this short blurb after scrolling all the way to the very bottom of the page.

It really seems like a necessary part of being a person who seeks power is being convinced that you are different from other people, no matter how little evidence there may be for that belief.
High turnover rate is ALWAYS a sign of shitty leadership.
Also my philosophy - if everyone in my team is failing, it’s my fault not theirs.
And I really don’t understand why anyone would still be loyal to this guy.
Long story short, without commenting on the job performance of Noem and Bondi, Trump is very clearly very bad at being a CEO.
Knee-jerk firing of staff just because you’re feeling pissy is literally the worst kind of leadership.
I also just want to from a purely practical perspective, firing people - as with any transition in staffing - is highly disruptive to the whole team. It produces a loss in efficiency and productivity as the whole team figures a new person, and the person learns a new job.
I have only been in the position of ever letting go of 2 people ever; both cases were during the probationary period when it became clear that the candidate would not thrive in my workplace.
It is and should be a sign of weakness how quick Trump is to fire people he’s annoyed with.
In my several years now of running a team I built from scratch, mostly consisting of students who will stay 1-5 years and leave bc of graduation. At any given time, I have about 8 folks working on my team.
Trump doesn’t work to build a good team in a good work environment. He hires badly, sets them up for failure, and then fires people when they inevitably fail. His reality show celebrated this genuinely awful approach to team leadership.
It’s clear Trump spends zero time thinking about the work culture he creates. In fact if anything he seems to foster an environment of in-fighting, brown-nosing, and pretense — exactly the kind of work environment that will breed spectacular and repeated failure.
Why? Because if it’s a problem of work culture or infrastructure (like maybe the training is insufficient, or maybe people are intimidated to say when they are struggling) then it doesn’t matter who you hire in, the person will be set up for failure and the problem will repeat itself.
When problems emerge in my team, I spend time examining the source: is it a failure of training/mentorship, insufficient resourcing, or is it really that the employee is a poor fit?
In other words, I try to solve the problem before removing the person.
Those in his staff lack even the basic credentials to do their jobs. Not surprisingly, therefore, they are not great at it.
Failure to hire effectively and build the right team is a clear sign of shitty leadership.
Running an effective team comes right at the beginning with identifying candidates with the right mix of expertise, willingness to learn, and ability to work within a team. It’s clear Trump doesn’t favor any of that - he appears to hire based primarily on whether the candidate flatters his ego.
The firing thing was obviously the ethos of his reality show, and I guess he thinks it’s a sign of power and machismo.
I see the frequency with which he deploys firing as a sign of weakness and failure as a leader.
I’m not saying that someone in a team leader position should never consider dismissing someone who is underperforming. I’m saying that the immediacy and capriciousness with which Trump fires people who work for him speak to terrible leadership and team management.
This is absolutely not a commentary on if Noem and Bondi deserved to be fired, but I think it’s also worth highlighting how Trump’s frequent use of firing is a sign that he’s a shitty leader and businessman.

Trying to catch up on work after a forced 10-day break bc schools closed but: 1) there's a water main break and a boil water advisory at work, 2) colleagues with kids are canceling meetings bc again no water, and 3) Microsoft Duo is down and I can't access my email or messaging services.
What even.
Javier Abreu-Vasquez had a kidney transplant in 2023.
He was grabbed by ICE while delivering groceries to help his neighbours.
They’re refusing to give him his anti rejection meds.
Without them, he will lose the organ.
This is how people die.
