Community Alpha Test 7 kicks off Wednesday, April 1st at 5PM ET and runs through Monday, April 6th.
🦴 Result:
A fully adjustable, waterproof, plug-and-play gravebreaker skeleton that looks like it’s clawing out of the ground, built from scrap wood, a $25 skeleton, and the Monster Guts 12V kit.

🧠 Future Integration
Later I can bypass the PWM and control the motor via Arduino + motor driver (L298N, BTS7960, etc.) for Unity/Kinect or Bottango show sync.
🌫️ Finishing Touches
Dress skeleton with rags, moss, or dirt
Add LED uplight or flicker strobe for drama
Optional fog nozzle under chest for “grave mist”
Stake base with rebar to prevent creep
⚡ Wiring & Control
Mount the speed controller inside a waterproof junction box
Tavonuxt Waterproof Electrical Box
Drill holes for cord grips / cable glands for 12V and motor leads
Wire quick-disconnects for easy teardown
Plug into 12V adapter → adjust dial for perfect “digging” speed
🪝 Head Mechanism
Add eye or rhombus hooks:
One at back of skull
One along spine
One on back of the T-frame
Run fishing line or wire through them to the motor side
Torso rocks back → line tightens → head lifts
Torso rocks forward → line loosens → head drops
Trim back as needed for the best range
💀 Skeleton Setup
Skeleton: 5.4ft Halloween Skeleton
Remove head and part of spine
Add ½" PVC crossbar across the clavicles for rigidity
Loosen arm joints or replace with a ½" PVC axle so arms flop naturally
Optional: use a ¾" PVC “T” floating on the ½" pipe for pivoting shoulders
⚙️ Motion System
Power Kit: Monster Guts 12V Power Pack
Mount the wiper motor about halfway down the vertical post on the back
Use the included extension arm
- Remove pelvis from skeleton
- Drill through coccyx and bolt the extension arm there
- Adjust linkage distance for smooth forward/back rocking
🧱 Frame
- Lumber: 2×4 (or 1×2 / 1×3 if you want lighter)
- Main beam: 36"
- Cross beam: 24" - forms a capital “T” on bottom
- Drill starter holes or risk splits!
- Main beam ontop of cross so the longer bar sits slightly graded up → gives the skeleton a forward “emerging” tilt
🪦 Overview
A simple, durable, and surprisingly smooth “ground breaker” animatronic using a 12V wiper motor and cheap skeleton.
The torso rocks up and down like it’s clawing its way out of the ground — plug-and-play with the Monster Guts Power Pack, ready for future Arduino or Kinect integration.
Fun first prototype and looking forward to iteration and dressing them up!
With additional 5v Motor and remaining scrap, added a gravestone peeker, made with no plan in mind.

⚙️Built a simple prototype gravebreaking animatronic prop with speed controller. Will continue to refine design and integrate into the the central Unity control via Arduino in the future.
