Yes, it’s valid to be Black and to feel deeply hurt and embarrassed when someone with Tourette‘s calls you the N-slur. At the same time, that doesn’t give you the right to act like an ableist fool who ignores what it’s like to live with Tourette’s and who devotes yourself to eugenicist thinking.
I’m urging people to educate themselves on Tourette’s and the ways in which it can make you say derogatory words, including slurs, against your will. Because some of y’all are instead itching to dehumanize disabled people and order them to be locked up at home. Have compassion for everyone.
