We all require attention from other people, it's part of the human condition. People who are in denial about this are more likely to struggle in an apocalypse

Me: I would like to be able to have a piss when I'm out for the day
JKR: I would like to make that impossible
Kezia: can we find some common ground?
She used to make statements about how a strong welfare system was good and necessary, but I think she's lost interest in that since she discovered transmisogyny
They don't seem to hate cis men anything like as much though, unless they speak in support of trans women
It's ridiculous how the media falls for their claim to be women's rights campaigners. They're so transparently not
During the Irish referendum, some of them were saying abortion was mostly good for men who wanted to abandon women they'd got pregnant. You have to be very deeply steeped in hate to think that makes any sense at all
Having to explain to a sexually active adult man that menstrual bleeding lasts for several days and is consistent and not controllable. I don't know if that's poor sex education or just wishful thinking
So I guess it's not technically the timing that's bad in that instance either
There is a bad time to score, which is stoppage time when you're already 6-0 down. Or actually any time in the match when you're 6-0 down because you're not coming back from that
"There's no better time to score a goal" technically correct in the sense that scoring a goal is good at any time
I have MADE two IMPORTANT PHONE CALLS and I have LEFT the HOUSE to SOCIALISE with OTHER HUMAN BEINGS and now I am EATING a POTATOES
(For younger readers, hitch-hiking was when you stood by the road, optionally with a sign saying where you wanted to go, and waited to see if anyone fancied giving you a lift. A bit like getting an uber except there was no app and you didn't have to pay. So actually not very like an uber at all)
Because Coventry is a city that someone might have on their hitch-hiking sign and a coven is a group of witches
When I was a kid, I had a book of terrible jokes. One was about a witch thumbing it and the punchline was witch-hiking. The accompanying cartoon showed a witch with a little sign saying "COVENtry"
I think they're variants on the same theme, that being poor means you aren't trying hard enough to not be poor, but definitely lots of horrible ideas circulating on the subject
You're right, that's probably their actual motivation. The theory about incentives is more a fig leaf of justification
We already have regulations, we need better enforcement
The theory is that if they make us miserable enough, we'll have an incentive to become rich. It hasn't worked yet, but they're deeply committed to the theory
Apparently two of his friends have discovered their adult daughters are on OF. One has gone ballistic and wants to confiscate her phone. The other is babbling about how "empowering" it is. Empowering is a silly framework, it's the cash that empowers
Boss: what would you do if you found out xCLP had an OnlyFans?
Me: well I'd be kind of surprised, but I guess I'd see if she had any tips?
Me: I opened my mouth and walked right into that one
Boss: and given your ... no, I won't go there
Me: I'm not impressed with these [brass bedstead] knobs
Boss: and given how many you've dealt with, you're well placed to judge
Today at work...
Fellow volunteer: hang on, I'll turn this table over so you can attach the other leg without having to get on your knees
Me: ...no, I'm not even going to go there
We also wanted transphobes to keep their transphobia to themselves, which is apparently impossible for them
"We don't gatekeep womanhood, we only ask that you be female" right, that's why you're now signing onto the idea that no trans person, and nobody you suspect might be trans or intersex, can ever be a woman
If someone says their head hurts, that's a different kind of statement from if they say you have no right to exist. It is sensible to treat those two statements differently.
Yes, this is a subskeet
Reminds me of the bloke I lost over his views on Muslims, who went straight from "You're being kind of racist here" to "They're about to stone you to death". Like a complete allergy to addressing the argument on its merits
Still not over how he insisted teh Muslims were a bigger threat to me than a right wing government and before the month was out the government had decided I shouldn't be allowed to use the toilet
As others have pointed out, they thought of that one and their solution was to ban trans people from all gendered facilities
It's like "thoughts and prayers" ie absolutely worthless
