Absolutely. Funny story. When I was writing my Fulbright proposal a million years ago, I was going to talk about all the flaws in the existing literature. Revised to talk about how great the foundational lit was and that I wanted to build on it. Turns out the main person I was going to critique

All of this. It's like some people have stopped doing deep literature reviews and therefore think their interventions are entirely novel, when they are often redundant or otherwise flawed.
