All I know is from what I’ve seen in Montreal since they’ve made changes. I didn’t notice any difference in travel time from how it was before on city streets. Highways are brutal though. No change in speed there. Biggest difference in central areas is better transit, bike lanes.

Since I left Montreal 8 years ago, the speed limit on most streets have been reduced from 50 to 30. Maybe I shouldn’t have left. (People still drive like crazy though).
I’m settling in to the new job I started in January and greatly enjoying it.
A relative once said to me "some races are born evil." I said "Oh? Which one is that?" She replied "the German race."
The moment you rage at people acting inhumanely and call them inhuman, is the moment you lose your humanity.
Basic Income Nova Scotia is hosting its annual conference on Friday.
You can attend in person at the Halifax Central Library (no need to register) or virtually (you do need to register to attend online). More info here: www.big-ns.org
That’s rough. I hope the rest of your week goes better and you get some much needed rest.
And yet there are people who have escaped cults, like the KKK and Westboro Baptist "church". Core values CAN change over time, especially with caring people who take the time to talk to them.

A WHOLE CIVILIZATION WILL DIE TONIGHT My son needs lunch, and I have to put his backpack together, but a whole civilization will die tonight, so I'm wondering if they've closed their schools. Like, a snow day, maybe, except instead of snow it's "keep your children home so if you die, you die together" — instead of "well open back up once the plows have cleared" it's "we don't know if we'll be here tomorrow, hold your babies tight." It's just "talk" I'm told, which I've been told before. "It's how the president makes his deals." But I've never heard anyone talk about other human beings this way, and I'm not certain I can look my son in the eyes if we all agree to stomach it one more time. A civilization will die tonight, but as I zip up his backpack and kiss him off to school I think: if this is what we call leadership then I'm not entirely sure ours isn't already dead. @michaelfdubois Mukad A QuBoy @michacifdubois
Brutal.
Though they might start asking why they only get time off for Christian holidays, and attendance penalties for taking time off for non-Christian holidays, if our schools and are religiously neutral.
To clarify, I don’t want any religious indoctrination in schools. But kids should learn the basics about all religions, including the ones most relevant to their time off from school.
My 13yo was surprised to learn today that Easter is a Christian holiday. He asked what the bunny has to do with Jesus. Tried my best to answer as a Jewish mom. I’m all for separation of Church and state. But when do kids do kids get properly educated about our statutory holidays?
The energy crisis is getting worse. How protected is Canada? #Canada

I’m truly alarmed that some of my family and friends are sending their teenage children to the US on class trips. The height of privilege that may or may not apply, depending on the agent or how well a teen remembers to securely carry their passport.
Gaza is one of the oldest cities in the world, it dates back to Ancient Egypt (2,000BCE)!
Imagine how much information was lost because of IsraHell 👇😡
NDP leadership race is on. Heather has a proven record and inclusive leadership approach. Avi has laudable ideals. But if he wins, I’ll be disappointed that progressives chose the candidate with the most privilege over the woman with the most expertise.
Clear to me Mehdi is calling Tucker a con man that’s exploiting the Democrats’ hypocrisy on Israel.
He agrees that Tucker is "a dangerous con man," and says that suppression of pro-Palestine speech in media has left space for bad actors like Carlson to reach people
From what I saw of Carlson’s take on the Jewish state from his interview with Huckabee, his critique it a bit hypocritical coming from a self described Christian nationalist. He has no problem with a Christian state on indigenous land.
I hope you feel better soon.
Yesterday morning, my son woke up on his 13th birthday 2 mm taller than me. I’m officially the mom of a teenager and the shortest person in the house.
The sick irony is that Zionism was supposed to make Jews safe. But building up a Jewish Sparta, as Arendt once called it, at the crossroads of Empire did the opposite. Today the Israeli war machine, fueled by siege mentality, feeds on the antisemitism birthed out of its entrails
I certainly understand the overlap between policing and white supremacists. More than you know. It was an honest question because I thought maybe there was a piece to the story about the specific guard I missed.
I’m not comfortable going to a synagogue anymore, since they don’t welcome anti-Zionists. But I’m also not comfortable supporting whatever security options they employ. Not sure there’s a simple solution. We need security like the hero in Australia.
On a separate note, where I grew up in Montreal, synagogue security is often done by private Israeli firms. Where I live now, there are only three synagogues, so it’s police officers.
I don’t like that synagogues feel the need to have security and the threat this poses to POCs.
Obviously having white supremacists officers guarding a synagogue is awful. Was that the case here? I didn’t see that in the story I read.
I didn’t know about this story until your post. Googled it and saw that the security guard shot someone driving a car into a synagogue. Is there more to the story about the security guard or anything else not covered by MSM?
I see the problem with needing security, but I don’t understand what was the issue in this case.
MOBILE FOOD MARKET The Mobile Food Market is facing a 20% reduction in provincial funding for food security programs. These cuts will require us to make adjustments to staffing and will impact our capacity to provide dignified and affordable food access to communities that already experience higher rates of food insecurity. Each week, the Mobile Food Market supports thousands of individuals and families by working alongside 35 community organizations, 11 schools, and 3 seniors' buildings, while operating 5 weekly markets across our communities. At a time when affordability is becoming increasingly out of reach for many households, and when food programs across the province are seeing reductions, the need for accessible food supports has never been greater. Our work focuses on bringing dignified and affordable access to healthy food directly into neighbourhoods where transportation, cost, and other barriers make it difficult for people to access fresh food. Now is not the time to reduce investments in food security. We need your help. • Share this post to raise awareness • Reach out to your MLA and let them know food security funding matters • If you or your organization rely on the Mobile Food Market, please comment below and share how these programs impact your community Your voices help show why community food programs matter. - Mandy Chapman Executive Director Mobile Food Market

While 20% may not seem like a lot - it has a huge impact on this incredibly essential service.
