When I posted this, the new film looked like it might never be released. So ignore that bit.

Given that people are banging on about Faces of Death, I should probably share this, which is my most popular YouTube post to date. Start here, go on to explore the rest...

T-shirt material.

Who exactly is this FOR? Not the dead person, clearly. Surely not anyone who actually knew them either. Is it just to ensure that annoying online gobshites are never silenced and can keep barking out nonsense forever?

Aha! I see my documentary is on here.

Is this a Linkedin thing? It seems like the sort of idiot boasting that goes on there.

500 things? That's more than one a day. What are they listing, getting out of bed?

I won't lie, I'd buy this if they knocked a few zeros off the asking price.

Admittedly, she had been living on the street, living on the scraps that foxes left, and was malnourished when we got her. She still can't quite get over the fact that food is now readily available and doesn't need fishing out of bins.

And... she is very, very greedy.

I followed this advice and it has worked a treat. Somewhat. Though the cat is now trying to convince us that someone else - maybe the machine itself - has actually eaten the food and that she is mere minutes away from passing out from hunger.

I have a lengthy documentary exploring the rise and fall of Soho as London's striptease and smut industry centre on here. I love Beat Girl so it was a pleasure to be a part of this collection (also includes the fantastic Virgin of Nuremberg, Hands of Orlac and An Arabian Adventure).

Our cat has, this week, made the inevitable shift from "thank you for rescuing me, I shall purr forever" to "I've been asking for food since 6am, I clearly have no other option but to bite you."

Great idea. I'm a big fan, in fact. I'll get onto it.

No @mayhemfilmfestival.bsky.social for me this year. I'm stuck babysitting for the duration as Miss Yuki recovers from her op.

So pleased to be part of this epic exploration of destape-era Spanish exploitation - a wild, under-explored era of no-holds-barred sleazy cinema crossed with arthouse ideas. I do commentaries on three titles here that I think sum up the era's mad vibe, mixing gore, sex, politics and experimentalism.

That's a different can design to the one I bought in Spain the other week. Lemon Fanta had another horror character, one that I was unfamiliar with but probably from one of those franchises the young people enjoy.

And I've become very tired of wholesale invention of facts, characters, etc in biopix being seen as acceptable without any acknowledgement that this is a work of fiction, one designed to fit an agenda, a belief or commercial considerations.

Beyond all that, I thought it was an awful, shoddy show.

As you say, this is going to be the version of the Gein story that most people see and the myth will become established as fact. But the whole thing feels fraudulent, stretched - I mean, 8 episodes and lengthy lip-smacking Nazi fantasies feels like extreme padding even by Netflix standards...

I watched the first episode of this and gave up. I know a thing or two about the Gein case and the immediate fictionalising of events, invention of characters and the curious inference that it was the comics wot made 'im do it felt rather offensive.

We've watched (English language) documentaries on Netflix with (English) subtitles, where what appears on screen is different to what is being said... sometimes actually changing the context and meaning. Pure laziness from companies that could easily afford to hire actual humans to subtitle work.

Maybe best to hang on for a better copy.

Sounds worth the price. Though you didn't mention the condition.

It certainly doesn't remotely smack of desperation to justify a system that can't be justified.

As for the rest of this: I'm calling bullshit on most of these claims. They have a whiff of the infamous 'video violence and children' report from the video nasty days (where kids claimed to have seen non-existent films), while claims of 'porn addiction' should be taken with an entire block of salt.

Incredible, isn't it? I'd predicted that this would happen, but I'd figured that they would wait six months or so before trotting out the 'loophole' nonsense.
