Whatever the truth of the criminal charges, it is pretty clear that he was behaving inappropriately with young staffers and in doing so, set himself up for this. His behavior weakens us politically, as a party. I have no sympathy for bad judgment and a lack of self control among elected officials

I’m all for proper investigation of accusations for sitting members of congress, to which they are entitled before they are ousted and that really was not done with Franken. But Swalwell is running for Gov and these accusations on their face make him unfit to run.

Okay. This is NOT Al Franken. Not a comedy photo taken 2 decades ago. Not “bad taste”. At best…best he was crossing lines with young staffers he shouldn’t and these scandals cripple Swalwell politically. We cannot afford leaders who lack judgment and self-control. The stakes are too high.

No. When you are a public servant you don’t get to make those kind of mistakes. They are not just between you and your wife. They weaken the political efficacy that millions depend on. And you absolutely do not get to make mistakes with your staff. Go.

He has to leave the race. If he wants to wait out investigation and stay in office. Fine. Maybe he committed no crime, but it is pretty clear with multiple allegations his behavior crossed lines at best. He has a responsibility to the public to behave with impunity. He didn’t. He has to go.
