Just found and shipped a monstrous +250% revenue win and it's so silly how simple it is

I noticed that every other saas app seemed to use this copy and wondered why. Well... now I know. And now you know too

spent an hour working with a user to debug a nasty and unexpected bug they were hitting on Pastmaps only to learn they were using internet explorer... NINE.
WHAT YEAR IS IT
What kinds of apps/extensions/sites are people using to x-post nowadays to places like Threads, X, Bsky, etc? Trying to become more active here and x-posting feels like the right first step
not interested in fancy automation, scheduling, etc. I'm just a dude trying to be real on the internet
Hiya! I have been building a startup in public over on Threads for the past year but recently have had some folks ask me to start sharing here too.
Who wants to hear about the ups-and-downs of building a GIS mapping company as a solo bootstrapped founder?
Hold my beer - pastmaps.com
I've been working on this for over a year now and literally have been pitching it as "Google Maps for the past". I have over 185K+ historical maps available across all of the US as far back as the 1870s (+ satellite imagery and LiDAR data)
Yes! There's actually a decent number of professions that need and use historical map assets (surveyors, mortgage lenders, environmental consultants, etc). I'm building some pro tooling and plan to offer paid plans targeting these use-cases. Should have first version of this done in the next month!
Shifting to focus on monetization a bit, currently at $500/m but non recurring (physical map sales). Gotta prove to myself that this traffic is valuable!
Hello again 👋. I'm Craig and I'm solo bootstrapping a company built around historical map assets
Big news today is hitting 2000 organic uniques from Google! Up and to the right 🎉
That network effect is not to be underestimated
Already feeling the pull of threads tbh
That's some mob shit right there
Honestly there's just not a big indie community here yet. So... you're the captain now?
I've been enjoying it but I'm also an ex-facebooker so a huge portion of my IRL friend graph is hyper active on there. A bit weird though to post about startup stuff to such a wide set of my graph so still thinking through that
figure from documentation for "a sony-owned patent for an interactive commercial system that allows viewers to skip commercials by yelling the brand name of the advertiser at their television or monitor." chillingly, the person stands as they shout MCDONALDS, implying an expectation of enthusiasm on the part of the consumer.
everyone signing up for threads
Yea so I find myself preferring bluesky over threads massively in these first early days. Impressive since my Instagram graph is pretty built out with real friend connections from my days working at FB
Feels more real over here

Zuck just dropped Threads early. My prediction given the first 10 minutes: it's boomer Twitter
Already feeling better about bluesky's slow graph building approach. Feels like it'll be more authentic in the long run
on that HARO grind today. ugh, backlink building is just such a slog
and yes, I know most folks just buy backlinks nowadays but I'm not about that noise, just feels icky
had to dodge 5-10 drunk drivers AND A FUCKIN MATTRESS coming home over the bay bridge last night
why are people like this
Big fonts - so hot right now
Well looks like he's a few days late but he's not asleep at the wheel at all
Threads.net
Interestingly enough, the unrelated threads.com is owned and run by a team of old-hat ex-facebookers I know
Definitely interested, thanks for sending along!
Been struggling with getting my programmatic SEO pages fully indexed by Google, giving https://tagparrot.com a try after hearing success stories from other indie makers hitting this same problem

Slow growth social media is something I haven't experienced since the early 2000s - feels good
Apparently it's always the fingers
