An rud is annamh is iontach! After a series of long, bad-tempered meetings on the dlr Development Plan variation, it’s lovely to be home, watching the latest #taskmaster, shooting the breeze on study (too early apparently 😳), dog walking (dog not the most enthusiastic 🐾), and wind (ruining my swim🌊)

Enjoying the views from Dún Laoghaire’s newest social housing. Great to see 39 new social homes in the heart of Dún Laoghaire. Well done to everyone involved in delivering Bentley Villas and best wishes to the new tenants!

Wonderful to attend the launch of the beautiful new tourist map of Blackrock. Congrats to Tom, Jen and Michelle for the hard slog, and massive thanks to Jeanne Colton for the beautiful design and to DLR’s Heritage Officer, Deirdre Black, and Dave Lawless, from DLR’s tourism office for their support

Sometimes, it’s the little things!

For people using mobility aids, stepping up to or down from a kerb is not feasible. Thanks a million to @dlrcoco.ie and the contractors #Nolan for installing the speed bump.

Handy also if you’re trying to get your wheely trolley of groceries back from the village

With International Women’s Day on Sunday, we were out and about in Monkstown this morning asking people what women’s rights and achievements we should be most proud and what we still need to fight for.

Take a look at some of the responses here and leave a comment to add your own!

I spoke about the Government’s ridiculous proposal to criminalise cyclists who don’t wear helmets 🪖

The fact they even proposed this betrays their complete lack of understanding of what makes our roads unsafe for cyclists & pedestrians 🚗🚙 @labour.ie @dublincycling.bsky.social

Writings of light assault the darkness, more prodigious than meteors.
The tall unknowable city takes over the countryside.
Sure of my life and death, I observe the ambitious
and would like to understand them.
Their day is greedy as a lariat in the air.
Their night is a rest from the rage within steel, quick to attack.
They speak of humanity.
My humanity is in feeling we are all voices of the same poverty.
They speak of homeland.
My homeland is the rythm of a guitar, a few portraits, an old sword,
the willow grove's visible prayer as evening falls.
Time is living me.
More silent than my shadow, I pass through the loftily covetous multitude.
They are indispensable, singular, worthy of tomorrow.
My name is someone and anyone.
I walk slowly, like one who comes from so far away
he doesn't expect to arrive.

This is what the contractors have the "pocket park" looking like when the work is finished (they're aiming for "Spring" though not sure by what calendar)

A couple of people have asked about the cross - it's still there, carefully covered to prevent damage (this, btw, with added sandbags, is what you do when the Russians are raining missiles down on your cities)

This is a Bad Take.

I left X this time last year, reluctantly. My Twitter community built my career. I had (I think?) about 50k followers.

But it became clearer and clearer after Musk took over where it was going. Bots, nazis, all manner of hate speech and vileness. No going back.

'Bad day for clean water': EU votes to extend Ireland's nitrates derogation by three years The conditions of the extension are yet to be fully ironed out, according to the Minister for Agriculture.

Ireland has secured a three-year extension to the controversial nitrates derogation.

An Taisce, the National Trust for Ireland, said the decision is "actually shocking".

"Recent EPA data on water quality is unambiguous. We are going backwards," An Taisce said.
