The most dangerous person to a woman is a male intimate partner or family member. The most dangerous place is her own home. The most dangerous time in the relationship is when she’s trying to leave

Justin Fairfax killing his wife is what happens when we don’t take sexual assault & domestic violence seriously. There were years and years of warnings & accusations that if listened to would have prevented this tragedy

Legalizing sex work would force sex workers to be public & tracked. The answer is decrim
I had a brief breast cancer scare when I was pregnant. I couldn’t stop thinking about the late friend of a friend whose cancer symptoms weren’t explored bc she was pregnant. She died.
This is a very, very good change of direction. Props to @cameronoakes.bsky.social for tracking the research.
Yes. That’s not a separate issue from the dehumanization of sex workers. It’s a contributing one
It’s not living in a bubble to say a single post should be kept to the memory of these murdered women. Now fuck off
Stop derailing the conversation from the murdered women
“Victims are separated into “good” women and “bad,” […] This helps insulate police who don't fulfill their responsibility in catching predators and hampers their investigations, because they probably don’t consider that the same man would want to kill sex workers and women who are not sex workers.”
Heurmann admitted to killing Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, Amber Costello, Jessica Taylor, Valerie Mack & Sandra Costilla & Karen Bragata (not charged). He will never answer for Shannon Gilbert's murder whose disappearance led to the discovery of the other women
Rex Heuermann-Gilgo Beach Killer-is pleading guilty to the murder of 7 women 15 yrs after the 1st body was found. He likely killed more. He was allowed to go on killing bec violence against sex workers is seen as their fault. I wrote abt it in @teenvogue.com in 2023 www.teenvogue.com/story/gilgo-...
That’s so bonkers to me. It significantly limits scholarship! How can it be that once we publish anything on a subject we can’t publish anything else in more depth or on a different aspect
Oh yeah of course. But I can’t imagine a 30 pg in depth article would count as prior publication from a 6 page one just cause it’s on the same page
I’m not entirely sure. They literally just said “too similar”
annie refiled her lawsuit this past week & I am once again asking why not a single news outlet seems to be interested in running anything even remotely substantial about this case
I swear peer review is going to kill me. I just got a rejection for a 30 page in depth article because it was too similar to a 6 page overview I wrote for law and history’s online journal a few years ago
This is a CUNY Union appreciation post because I just found out the current adjunct pay and I’ll actually be able to afford my mortgage in the fall
But I would argue while the rules are different that’s still seeing Jewishness as immutable
Hmm I’m not sure I agree that reform sees it so differently
Yeah I agree it’s different with conversos or any forced conversion situation
Yes agreed it’s definitely complicated
There’s disagreement
But in the case of crypto Jews they often were still practicing despite being forced to convert. It’s a little different. Also the accusation of crypto Jews was often just antisemitic to claim converted Christians were still Jews perverting society
Still antisemitic
Hmm I’ve seen different takes on this. And that someone who is born to parents who have converted out has an easier conversion but still needs to go through conversion
Jews can be secular, atheist, etc and still be Jewish. But if you convert out you’re no longer Jewish
Most messianic Christians were never Jewish and if a Jewish person converts to Christianity they are no longer Jewish
Anyone Christian is not Jewish. You’re thinking of messianic Jews. They claim they’re Jewish but they’re not. They’re Christian
How would Jewish people host Christian Seders?
Yes passion plays are also usually antisemitic
