Excellent news for Alberta’s courts - but a real loss for the @ualberta.bsky.social and its law school. Eric Adams is a great constitutional scholar and legal historian - and he’s always been generous in sharing his knowledge with the public (and with me.) #cdnpoli #abpoli #ualberta #yeg #Edmonton

Broadly accurate based on being (relatively) involved in a professional industry being shaped by it.
Graphic with the text: 44th ANNIVERSARY OF THE CANADIAN CHARTER OF RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS.
44 years ago today, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms was signed into law. It laid the foundation for a stronger, more just Canada.
It is up to us all to protect the values of freedom and equality enshrined in the Charter — to keep building a better Canada, for all.

Thanks for heads up this is amazing news!!
Exactly my experience. They don’t do any of the work to avoid hallucinations or proposition drift that I as an amateur have figured out doing myself in the last couple of months. It’s just a bad chatbot that searches their databases: an authoritative source is the first step not the only one.
Absolutely, and there is a significant time investment to not only learn, but to build tools and references that work in your personal workflow. Last year the big companies pitched very expensive products that purported to already do that work and they fell flat, because it has to be done yourself.
My experience as well. Somewhere between data analysis and code it can be made (with effort) to work very well on things like case briefs. Does that change my world? No but it can help speed things up.

This is not good! We must reject American-style gerrymandering of elections.

I really like it but I wish the automatic limb selection was a little better. I understand the importance of the friction but it just doesn't feel right some of the time, and manual mode can be too clumsy. Still enjoying it though.
Nuance rarely garners attention unfortunately; that’s obviously the root source of many issues in the current media/political environment.
I am insanely jealous of this!

Signal has a setting to stop this (Settings > Notifications > Notification Content). It's likely not an issue limited to just Signal, but more fundamental friction between secure chat apps and phones. Very interesting data point when talking about forensics www.404media.co/fbi-extracts...

I don't have the book in front of me, but I believe it is in Iron Sunrise by Charles Stross where you have this play out between a "conventional" force of Star Trek style ships and a more realistic/modern take on what space combat could look like. Hilarious. (It might be in Singularity Sky.)
Pledged! Congratulations looks fantastic!
This descriptive, thoroughly reported and very troubling essay about the separatist movement in Alberta by @marcellodicintio.bsky.social is critical reading for Albertans. Great journalism in the public interest.

I think this is exactly it. Workplace hours.
There must have been a real fight on the commission. Look at this paragraph from the Executive Summary. Also see pp 62-64. Majority: Miller, Clark, Samson. Minority: Evans and Martin.
