I sampled this profile (dark brown, left) on top of the lateral moraine of Argentiere Glacier 15 yrs ago!

It basically no longer exists today, bedrock is outcropping everywhere!

These moraines won't be around much longer!

Two years ago (14 April 2024, 06:56), a large rock avalanche detached from 3640 m asl on Piz Scerscen (Bernina, GR) and fell on Tschierva Gl and its forefield, almost reaching the LIA maximum position! 🧊❄️🌊
