I also want anyone reading this to consider how stupid it would be to hate someone for not drinking or liking coffee.
Yes if you love coffee, you can be perplexed by the idea, but:
- Would you call them a heretic?
- Would you wish harm upon them?
- Would you demand they drink until they like it?

Let's say the food is coffee, and you work as a barista.
You come out "I despise coffee! I hate this swill!".
Imagine the discomfort of being a barista, and everyone knows you hate coffee.
Now imagine the world hated or didn't respect anyone that didn't drink coffee.
It's kinda like that.
Over time you realize you not only don't like the food, but it makes you gag. You're so deep in this lie, it's destroying you from the inside.
What do you do?
Tell a new lie, disappear (!), or tell the truth.
Even if you hide behind new lies, the problem never goes away. π
Transgender people are a larger minority than anyone realizes. Anyone you meet could be trans. To be trans is to realize the assumptions others project on you are wrong.
A trivial example might be lying about liking a food. Everyone around thinks you love it, gives it to you, and watches you eat it
The commenter being "bad at English" or "bad at empathy" is irrelevant. Society and mainstream media have ostracized us, normalizing this idea that we are "abnormal".
Claire went out for a quiet dinner. She wanted to forget about the bullshit we deal with constantly. Bullshit had other plans.
Death by 1000 cuts.
Being trans in today's society is to be "othered". We aren't people, we are some other thing. She wasn't just called weird, she was called weird 100 other times that day. Weird Al didn't reclaim weird, he made it a brand. Weird otherwise is a synonym for abnormal or unnatural. π
The part you're probably missing is that you didn't listen to her words. You read them, but you weren't listening to them.
You made the immediate jump to defending the commenter, and missed that the commenter wasn't even what she was mad about. She was mad at the sentiment expressed.
Let's assume you are a lawyer. It's common to call all lawyers liars. How does this make you feel?
You turn on the TV, talking heads laughing about "all lawyers are liars".
You overhear a dinner conversation, someone telling a friend they like someone but "they're a lawyer".
You can't escape it.

Regardless of the kids poor grasp of the English language, the issue is that society is comfortable "othering" us. It's a "death by 1000 cuts" situation. We brush off the "weirds", the "differents", so many other hurtful words, and poor Claire couldn't even eat out without receiving another cut. π
FWIW Claire is pissed-off because so rarely we get treated as "people". Weird Al didn't reclaim weird, he made it a brand. Weird otherwise is a synonym for abnormal, unnatural.
Let's say others call you "the creepy father" behind your back because of your son. Would the speakers age even matter?
And now there isn't even a post. π
No doubt the feeling is fleeting, but this very moment you do look comfortable. π€£

Hahahaha! I just noticed that Alibaba (AliExpress) snuck a jab into their "world tour" game that mocks a certain DC resident. π€£
What a "weird" question...
(I'd get the booth wrong π)
/walks over to booth, knock knock/
"Hey, do you want to know what's really weird?"
...
"Suggesting you're an ally then badmouthing them behind their back. If you actually care, the words you are looking for are 'I don't understand', and you have at least 2 ways to get an answer."
..wrong booth π
The song could use more of this.
(as fun as Rick Rolling a crowd would be, I'd choose performing a cover of this mashup as a live-only track... Would make a hilarious encore: band returns to stage in basketball jerseys, Charles Barkleys face fills the background)

Ya, I should stop following this dude who's always glazing about OpenClaw.
There are conversations we should be having, but all the roleplaying with your ASCII Tamagochi is giving me "you don't actually care, do you" vibes.
Another time perhaps.
βgo back to the moon but this time we have really good camerasβ was a fantastic idea
Γber parasocial. π
Light gone out. Even plugging into my phone it's pooched.
Yep, I lost it an hour or so ago (then got busy). Had to scrounge around the apartment to find a USB-C charger that supported PD 20V. I really need to find a deal and stock up on PD 20V+ chargers, cause I think I have no more than 2 without a home. π³
I have a dozen old-style Thinkpad chargers. π
"Doing AI right" is making specialists. General purpose models, even LORAs, are way too inefficient. The vast majority of data in a model is never used in specialist work. It's either ignored, or mathematically cancels out. LLMs are orders of magnitude larger than needed for the roles they perform.
