When Trump was officially announced as the winner of the election that's basically how I coped. I kept telling myself that Trump and his administration would compound the contradictions in the system that have been getting worse over decades leading to it's collapse. I still hold on to some hope.
Nah. Apolitical/apathetic people bother me. My partner is trans masc. We discussed Newsom as a challenger to Trump without all the information (yesterday). I just hate the current administration so much. I'd take a lesser demon over Satan himself. I just don't see hope for the current system.

I can't help but feeling like if the system refuses to change, we refuse to implement ranked choice, or widely acknowledge progressive candidates than choosing to ignore politics and let everyone else decide your fate isn't wise.

What makes me unable to stomach Newsom is how he talks about and treats the homeless of california. I didn't even know he was transphobic too. But if the american people will only vote for someone who puts on the best show, i'd rather him then MAGA.
Mamdani who would be 37 next election would be a much better choice. Or ranked choice voting with more than two parties. But just like i voted for kamala to try and save us from trump, i'd vote for Newsom. Reluctantly.

I believe what they were telling you is that a solution that respects law and procedure would likely be ignored, or repressed by a government intent on perpetuating the status quo, regardless of what a majority wanted, what is factually true, or what causes the most societal good. Idk tho.

I learned about "irregardless" being redundant as an adult. One that I see used incorrectly all the time is to "quote, unquote" someone. You can't unquote someone, or at the least that's not what you mean. It would be "quote, end quote".
