Our team has started him on small, gentle meals to help his body recover, and we are monitoring him closely every step of the way.
Loki's past was not kind to him. But his future? That's a different story.
But here's what the neglect couldn't touch: Loki's spirit.
Despite everything, he greeted our team with a wagging tail and a willingness to trust - a reminder of just how resilient dogs can be.
He is now safe, warm, and finally getting the nourishment and care he deserves.
When Loki arrived at our shelter, the signs of neglect were impossible to miss.
He was dangerously emaciated, his body worn down.
Crusty sores dotted his muzzle and patches of his coat were missing - leaving behind only the evidence of what he had endured.
Neglected. Forgotten. Left to fade away in a yard.
That's how Loki's story came to us - through the worried report of a Good Samaritan who couldn't look away.
They made the call to our Animal Cruelty hotline, and that call changed everything for this sweet dog.
Please consider making a donation in her honor. Every dollar goes directly to every animal like her who arrives at our doors bearing the physical scars of cruelty.
Justice's past was defined by someone else. Her future belongs to her.

Someone seriously hurt her. Deliberately.
But Justice is here now, receiving the care she deserves and the safety she was denied for far too long.
But our valued partners at ACCT knew we had been on this case.
They contacted us immediately, and we transferred Justice directly into our care.
What our veterinary staff found upon intake was heartbreaking. Justice had a skull fracture.
Not long after, video footage was submitted to our cruelty department showing an individual beating her.
While we worked to secure a warrant, her owner took matters into their own hands - surrendering Justice to ACCT Philly as a stray.
Tethered. Beaten. Broken - but not beyond hope.
That's where Justice's story begins.
A photo brought us to Justice - a beautiful husky, tethered tightly to a pole. But when our team arrived, she was already loose. We knew something wasn’t right, and we were determined to help.

He may have had a painful past, but his story is far from over. We are committed to rewriting his future and with your help, we can do just that.
Please consider donating today on $5 Friday to support Sven and the many other animals like him who deserve a second chance.
Sven is now receiving the best care possible. His wounds have been cleaned, he’s on a carefully monitored refeeding plan, and he’s finally warm, safe, and beginning to heal.
For the first time in perhaps a long time, Sven is feeling hopeful.
Pressure sores covered his body, his lower half was stained and caked with dirt, and he was infested with fleas and suffering from mild hypothermia.
He flinched when we reached out, but even through his fear, it was clear how badly he wanted to trust and feel safe.
When he arrived at our shelter, Sven was rushed straight into our hospital. His condition was severe. He was severely underweight, and had a thick, filthy red collar hanging around his neck.
A white pittie had been found at the back door of a residence, struggling to walk with his body battered and sore from neglect.
When they saw him, they knew there was more to the story and brought him directly to us.
Alone, injured, and scared. That’s how Sven’s story began.
Just days ago, our friends at ACCT Philly brought Sven straight to our shelter. They had responded to a concerning call about a stray dog.

Tank deserved better from the start. But thanks to you, he's gotten the medical attention and compassion he should have had all along.
Tank is safe now. Thank you for showing up for animals who have nowhere else to turn.
While under sedation, our team also took X-rays of his spine, pelvis, and hind legs to fully understand his orthopedic challenges and create a long-term care plan.
He's on pain medication and antibiotics as he recovers.
Giant breed dogs like Tank require specialized care, especially as they grow. Left untreated, orthopedic issues cause chronic pain and significantly impact their quality of life.
Tank has now undergone surgery to remove his bladder stone.
This sweet boy had been suffering, too long. Yet when our team handled him, he allowed every examination without complaint. Despite everything, Tank remained gentle and trusting.
We see this too often - animals whose medical needs go unaddressed until they become emergent.
Tank was thin - too thin for a growing Great Dane. He had pressure sores on his hind legs. His back legs splayed outward with every step, his hocks dropped low to the ground.
His hips and knees showed signs of severe orthopedic problems that had gone untreated. He was also partially deaf.
Tank, a one-year-old Great Dane, arrived at ACCT Philly on December 30th after his owners surrendered him. He was peeing blood.
When our veterinary team examined this gentle giant, they found so much more.
