Little Snitch for Linux — Because Nothing Else Came Close Recent political events have pushed governments and organizations to seriously question their dependence on foreign-controlled software. The core issue is simple and uncomfortable: through automatic updates, a vendor can run any code, with any…

Open Source Seed Initiative - Home of the OSSI Pledge Are you a plant breeder, seed company, farmer, gardener, or interested eater who wants to join the Open Source Seed Community?

We've been building a pretty sizeable garden at our house and my wife was shopping for seeds in some catalog. She saw reference to one of the listed seeds being "open source" and not available for "private intellectual property ownership".

TIL about osseeds.org. This is so cool.

Of course. And that’s why Dems need to lean in and work towards dismantling ICE.
First no funding.
Impeach Noem.
Demand hearings on ICE’s operation in MN.
Demand that Miller resign.

Don’t let up.

This is where I remind folks once again that my personal site and Whatever, my blog, have been around longer than at least three and probably four generations of social media. Having your own space that only you control is a good thing, especially in an age of resurgent fascism.

I genuinely think boycotting the World Cup is some of the strongest leverage the Europeans have.

"Quit demonstrating" is not something that a pro-democracy politician says. It's something that an authoritarian tool says.

@bradfitz.com I don't remember... did LiveJournal support markdown? Since it was in perl, I imagine it would have been trivial?

3 months ago 2 0 1 0

Brings back memories of my very first use of markdown in blosxom. Since it was also in perl, the main markdown.pl file worked as a drop-in plugin, which was pretty slick.

@anildash.com Looks like all the links are broken. Ironically, it looks like the markdown isn't being processed correctly, and it's treating the raw markdown as a relative URL.

oh, nevermind.. it was the load from file PR. :-P

Just curious, what's the change you need in caddy-tailscale? I'll definitely take a look at the PR once it's up.

Linux systray application · Tailscale Docs Use the Linux systray app for quick access to features like user switching and exit nodes.

There's also a systemd unit that you can install, if that's how you roll: tailscale.com/kb/1597/linu...

I start it from my sway config, but same idea. The expectation is definitely that you'd allow your desktop environment manage starting the systray app rather than just launching manually.

client/systray: can't open Mullvad exit node menu on COSMIC · Issue #17879 · tailscale/tailscale The "Mullvad VPN" submenu under "Exit Nodes" displays, and it has an icon indicating that it's a submenu, but when you click it the entire exit node menu just closes. It's possible this is just a C...

oh, got it! I didn't have Mullvad enabled for this device, but now I can reproduce it. I'm betting this is going to prove to be a COSMIC bug, but we're now tracking it in github.com/tailscale/ta...

For now, "More Settings" will open the web client, which should work fine with Mullvad if you need it

hmm, that's not great. Does the "rebuild menu" option fix anything by chance? What distro and cosmic version are you using? I have a PopOS 24.04 VM that I use for testing, and I can't currently reproduce this yet, though the giant profile image problem still seems to be there (a known issue).

Remember that pangolins have both tails and scales! :)

note the date on the blog post... 2023. Amélie the pangolin has been Tailscale's mascot from pretty early days, though we've never talked about her very much publicly. The earliest welcome emails were addressed from her.

It's unlikely that it would actually be deleted, but we did have a recent login issue that impacted a handful of users that might make it look that way. If you can email support@tailscale.com with more details we can definitely look into it. (let me know if you do, and I'll go find your ticket)

oh cool! My dad and his dad are/were both Eagles as well. Not sure how that never came up in conversation with you. Trying hard not to push my boys too hard, but I'd really love for them to be 4th generation Eagles.

heh, cool. Apparently today is the 25th anniversary of earning my Eagle Scout rank. I still believe in the program for my two boys, even if I'm deeply disappointed in how BSA has handled a lot of things in recent years.

same as others said... native LSP, Treesitter, Lua support is amazing. New generation of neovim-focused plugins are really great.

I took the couple of weeks before starting at Tailscale to make the switch, and I'm so thankful I did.

When we throw up our hands and say none of it matters, we're doing the fascists’ work for them. They don't need to hide their corruption if they can convince us it's pointless to look. They don't need to silence truth-tellers if we've already decided truth is meaningless.

Murphy To Secretary Of Homeland Security Kristi Noem: Your Department Is Out Of Control
Murphy To Secretary Of Homeland Security Kristi Noem: Your Department Is Out Of Control YouTube video by Senator Chris Murphy

it's almost seven minutes long, but every American should watch this. as the historian Rick Perlstein said on Twitter:

"Watch Sen. Murphy show how every administration official should be grilled, every time. Like you're creating a record for future criminal trials."
