And we know from experience, Joanne will reach out and help whoever and whatever party they voted for.

๐Ÿ’š We are giving it everything in Shirley. Support for our Green candidate, ๐‰๐จ๐š๐ง๐ง๐ž ๐‚๐ฅ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ is still growing. If Labour say itโ€™s a โ€œtwo-horse raceโ€ between them and Reform, theyโ€™re trying to mislead you.

Shirley is turning Green but we need your vote to make it happen.๐Ÿ’š

A Hampshire Live article with the title "Southampton council plans to sell empty council houses in need of major repairs"

A Hampshire Live article with the title "Southampton council plans to sell empty council houses in need of major repairs"

Despite what they said, Southampton City Council seems set to sell off much needed council housing at a time of crisis. We have a cost of living crisis and an eight year waiting list, now is not the time to be selling off vital public services such as housing.

Vote green to save our council houses.

But if you are making that comparison you surely have to take into account China ($19tr) and India ($4tr) who will be supporting Putin once Trump throws Ukraine to the wolves.

Iโ€™m old enough to remember when the Director General of the BBC categorically didnโ€™t resign after one of its flagship politics shows literally photoshopped Jeremy Corbyn with a Soviet hat and painted red with the Kremlin in the background like some kind of Cold War-era communist mural.

@gregjenner.bsky.social Saw you at Gloucester today and one of your slides said to say hello on Bluesky. So hello and thank you for being part of a thoroughly humane festival.

Paul Ovenden describes his WhatsApp jibes about Diane Abbott as 'silly'. I think he means 'racist, sexist and utterly repugnant'.

Grimly hilarious that Peter Mandelson "worked every day" to undermine Jeremy Corbyn but has undermined Keir Starmer far more effectively with no apparent effort.

I fear @mainstreamlabour.bsky.social is too little too late. I had an email today from the last two members who were in my local branch when I first joined Labour in the 1980s. They have resigned and are minded to join @greenparty.org.uk.

BBC (Henry Zeffman) is suggesting that some on the front bench don't want to have a contest and that the rules allow Starmer to appoint a deputy leader from the cabinet.

Not so much anti-NATO as reflecting the reality that NATO is no longer capable of functioning as long as the US are dysfunctional. If NATO was working why do we need a "coalition of the willing" to protect Europe from Russian aggression?

Possibly the best leader the Labour Party will never have.

Twenty seven people who donated ยฃ50m in total to the last Tory government were given seats in House of Lords. And some still argue against an elected second chamber.

Steve Reed's announcements today amount to this: Privatised water companies will continue to pump sewage into rivers for at least 1.8 million hours a year for the foreseeable future while putting up prices and paying the bosses seven figure salaries. We can't afford to keep water private.

Well, not since 1900 at least.

I don't get it being a moral imperative to condemn future generations of disabled people to greater hardship and poverty when it looks like the money saved will be spent on weapons of war. Surely Starmer has to withdraw the bill and think again?

New analysis: most care homes closed by industry regulator are run A new analysis led by researchers at the University of Oxford and funded by the Nuffield Foundation has found that virtually all care homes forced to close in England by the Care Quality Commission

Between 2011 and 2023, 816 care homes in England were forcibly closed by the regulator for poor standards and harms to residents.

804 were owned by for-profit entities. 30% -40% of fees vanish in profits, leaving less for services.

Profits and care don't mix.

The vast majority of Co-op members voted in favour of motion 13. It's now up to the board and management to walk the walk and cease trading with Israel.

I wonder if there is time to get a more proportional system in place for the Hampshire/IOW mayoral election. And even voting for the new unitary authorities in Hampshire.

There was a Green in Hedge End South last year's planned election - they don't seem to have the organisation to respond to by elections which are often called at quite short notice.
We met a number of voters on the doorstep who would have voted Green this time.

A short ๐Ÿงตon Rivers.

We think of rivers as natural, ancient forces โ€” winding through landscapes, sustaining life. But what if they're no longer what they seem? 1/5

Surely the problem is not that the Greens are unserious, but that the US has become unserious, unstable and unreliable.
