There was a great focus on pre-collaborations (which is indeed essential if they had to develop their proposal in 40 days) and probably also helps to quickly set the goal.

Thank you for the recommended paper. I actually read it before. It is indeed one of the papers that bring collaborative grant writing in light but the focus was more collaboration with external partners and
funded grant proposals for the NWO OpenScienceNL call on Research on Open Science.
In the paper, we reflect on both the benefits and challenges of this coordinated approach, and show that a different model of grant writing is not only possible, but promising.
