Looking for more on the Vision Zero Action Plan?

🧑‍💻 Check out the blog on our website. which sets out just how achievable we think each point is, and what impact it could have on London in the next few years: lcc.org.uk/news/vision-...

The final thing you need to know about VZAP 2 is what TfL aren't saying out-loud, the need to cut motor traffic 🚘

To meet their target for "80 per cent of trips to be made by walking, cycling and public transport by 2041”, the private motor vehicle mode share needs to be half what it is now...

Work related road risk is another big issue that TfL are looking to solve in VZAP 2, with the plan setting out a new commitment to get boroughs to sign-up to the latest lorry safety standards 🚛

A great idea, and one we've been campaigning for for years: lcc.org.uk/campaigns/en...

Next up, VZAP 2 is also going big on 'zones', so LTNs and School Streets 🏫

In fact, the plan goes so far as to commit to 200 more School Streets, bringing the total to 1,000 (and now including secondary schools) - a big ✅ from us on that one...

🧵📢 NEWS: TfL and @london.gov.uk publish Vision Zero Action Plan 2, setting out plans for zero road casualties in London...

🤔 Our take on it? Broadly, we're in favour, and TfL are making some bold promises - the first of those being a doubling of the cycle network by 2035 🚲

(NB: highly doubt that anyone working illegally would disclose this fact to a journalist or anywhere else given risks to individuals)

It's not just that work under these platforms is often done illegally (illegal vehicles; uninsured; breaking road traffic laws; modern slavery infiltrated labour).

But even if you solve those problems; the employment model is exploitative to try and hide the fact that these are, in fact, employees.

Subsidy per mile is definitely the way to go here: incentivise the switch to legit, safe, e-bikes.

A lot of mobility innovation focuses on making existing options even more comfortable for the most privileged, at the expense of children, the elderly, people with low incomes or disabilities. If we’re not designing for them, we're designing ourselves out of the system: fair-mobility.eu/the-library/

Electric cars eligible for £3,750 discount announced The Puma Gen-E and e-Tourneo Courier are two Ford models drivers can purchase under the government scheme.

People who can afford to drop the thick end of £40k on a car do not need a handout.
We should be using that cash to get people to swap to alternatives instead.

Ed Miliband to tell MPs who reject net zero policies they are betraying future generations Exclusive: Energy secretary’s ‘radical truth-telling’ comes as Reform plans net zero bonfire and Tories also ditch targets

Ed Milliband is about the only reason to have faith in labour.
He is right.
We do need to continue to step up efforts to get to net zero and tackle the climate emergency.
Change has already happened, and UK weather is more extreme so we need to double down.
