Opposition leader Péter Magyar at a rally.
Orbán's electoral crushing is a far greater achievement than most people outside Hungary realise.
He systemically consolidated power for 16 years, fixed the electoral map, abused govt power for political purposes & censored media.
The hurdles that Hungarians overcame for this moment were immense.

America is truly fucking up here.
They were not able to come up with a solution to end the war they started in the peace talks.
And now they are going to block other countries from getting their oil, because America can’t.
This is not going to go the way they think it will.

In competitive authoritarianism, leaders abuse state power to tilt the electoral playing field in their favor, manipulate the media environment and minimize opposition voices, maybe even steal close elections by lying about fraud. But they usually can't overcome a large majority voting against them.

The result is a stunning turn for a politician who has ruled as prime minister for 16 years and been an ally of President Trump.
the JD Vance effect: "Prime Minister Viktor Orbán conceded that he had lost Hungary’s election on Sunday, as early results showed a stunning defeat for the politician who has ruled the country for 16 years and been an ally of President Trump."

A tweet claiming Trump ordered the dismantling of the U.S. Forest Service, with text stating regional offices are being shut down and research programs destroyed, alongside photos of Trump at a desk and a forested mountain landscape.
Per The New Yorker, the reorg “shuts down the Service’s nine regional offices and relocates its headquarters from Washington, D.C., to Salt Lake City” where the “Service will now have, instead of a regional headquarters, a ‘state coördinator’ in the capitals of states where it has large holdings...

Remember that time he got pulled over. Ran away to his home, then when the cops came to his door he answered with a bottle of booze in hand. Our whole neighborhood bugged him for for years after that. Nice guy though

American tech oligarchs have done a brilliant job of making themselves universally hated.
If they had just stayed businessmen, no one would care.
But by using their fortunes to aggressively support fascists, they guaranteed the public would turn on them

Hey BC Agenda 2030 system—“you will own nothing and be happy.”
Hot on the heels of the “Great Reset,” here in British Columbia over 1/3 of our population just got the news that the security of their property rights is in question.
Property values are about to drastically decrease, making the renewal of mortgages more complicated than simply whether lenders will be willing to take on these properties.
You may also need to be prepared to cover the loss in value in order to proceed in any case.
These backdoor deals being made will have major implications and a long list of ripple effects for businesses and homeowners.
This isn’t a question of significant change—the question is: will you be able to sustain it?
We have one true weapon to combat this in a peaceful manner: the ability to recall our elected representatives, who have decided to leave us behind in favor of First Nations bands to guide us through the reset rather than be held accountable.
This is all happening in the shadows of secrecy.
If we have any chance to move the needle and protect our province from what is surely going to transpire, it will be because you did what needs to be done and put in the work.
I encourage everyone to come together at David Eby’s constituency office on April 11th starting at 1:00 PM. We have a strategy set to commence on April 20th, as the 18-month period will elapse and we can begin the recall process for several NDP and Green Party members.
If we wait for a political solution, it will be far too late. If we can swing the power away from the NDP, we have a fighter’s chance.
1/ BC far-right influencers are preparing recall campaigns against David Eby (Vancouver-Point Grey) & Garry Begg (Surrey-Guildford). These campaigns are based on conspiracies & hate. They also raise an important question around ethics & conflict of interest.

The research was enormously hampered by a giant hole in climate data collection triggered by Harper government.
The collective cost of willful ignorance compiles for generations.

Three quarters of data centre sites planned in Alberta are in high water stress areas
Canada’s National Observer analyzed the locations of 38 data centre campuses proposed in the province, and found that three quarters of them are in regions where water use is already in shorter supply...
Only about 50 people live in the hamlet of Indus, Alberta. So, when one of the largest data centre complexes in the country — the Beacon AI Centres Indus Project — was proposed in its backyard, there was little prospect of organized opposition in the hamlet.
But no one factored in Thomas Shrake.
