I begged a friend to stay with me in a downstairs room!

I think I'll sleep in the downstairs living room, with the doors closed and the cats and dog with me!
Please help me identify the critter in our air ducts while I ponder how I’ll sleep pending tomorrow’s visit from the animal removal pro.
Well now I guess I have to read everything Sarah Carson has ever written. @short-reads.org @rhinopoetry.bsky.social

Such excellent reporting on such a tragically cruel story.
Cliché & basic point, i know, but it's really fucked up how many people refuse to ask "but how will we pay for that" about war & jail shit.
Like they fully & fundamentally accept & believe in endless money taps for killing & jailing & hurting other people, but not like… food or medicine or housing.
Out now from @umasspress.bsky.social: Woman House, a probing memoir in essays by Lauren Westerfield. @lwwesterfield.bsky.social Thank you @hippocampusmag.bsky.social for the opportunity to review this necessary book. bit.ly/4csLFrL
Really nuts how many men were like "Me Too went too far, and I need to email Jeffrey Epstein about it."
Carpeted walkway in bookstore. On the left, a 4-tiered shelf of books beneath a sign reading "U.S. History."
At 3rd Place Books, in my former home of Seattle. In this spot in 2015, I recognized a fellow browser and blurted, "Are you Ken Jennings?" 30 seconds later, thinking celeb gawking must feel dehumanizing, I said, "I'm Kim Kankiewicz." 10 yrs later I'm fangirling over @kenjennings.bsky.social again.
It takes an enormous amount of courage to stand there, keep filming, and scream "What the fuck, you asshole" at someone wearing a badge who just shot and killed one of your neighbors in cold blood.
This year, I resolve to be more Rosa Lyster excavating profundity from absurdity and less a reactive bundle of nerves.
Or Leila's Hair Museum in Independence. sweetlit.com/issue-13-1/g...
Coincidentally, my book research involved visits to several telephone museums, including the one in Abilene. But I'm going with the Jim the Wonder Dog Museum in Marshall, Missouri, in answer to this question.
This was an especially satisfying and disheartening episode of an always satisfying and disheartening podcast.
The regime has now arrested, handcuffed/decked:
• Judge
• Member of Congress
• US Senator
• Mayoral Candidate/city official of NYC/
A Trump supporter just assassinated a Dem leader in MN.
And Sen. Dems are about to vote w/ Republicans to give Trump a gift on crypto - as early as maybe today.
Eager to read this.
I nodded at every sentence of this essay while an automated voice read it to me from my phone.
Wow, this essay. I drove past that Confederate flag before filling my gas tank in Paducah last week, and I'm finding comfort in sharing the road with @jeanettemrozinski.bsky.social and her witness of resistant beauty.
so much depends upon your exposure to modernist poetry
Two Coke Zero bottles with “Share a Coke with…” labels, the first labeled “William” and the second “Carlos.”
I have drunk
the third Coke Zero
that was in
the icebox
and which
you were probably

for after school
Forgive me
it was delicious
so sweet
and so cold
This is the reminder I needed after a family member’s screed about LPJ. Apparently her ownership reveals “Operation Signalgate” as a deep state plot because she’s been photographed with Ghislaine Maxwell and The Atlantic ran a story debunking child pedophile conspiracies.
@djpressman.bsky.social, Soha Hammam, and I draw on our research through the Crowd Counting Consortium to show that there is far more protest happening in the US than is commonly understood, and that the shift to economic noncooperation shows powerful potential for future collective action.
I saw this on Facebook too, so it’s definitely true.
Usually when I hear someone loudly explain something to their table mate at any local coffee shop, it's the doctrine of penal substitutionary atonement. Today, it's a plan for democratic action. #Missouri #resistance
Here we have a Texas government official telling a Baptist minister what they are supposed to believe

Please consider updating this setting & providing alt text for media going forward as folx with vision loss & other disabilities deserve equitable access to your posts on BlueSky as those of us who can see that @lambdalegal.bsky.social refused to take just a few minutes to invest in accessibility! 🙏🏽
Thank you!
