that picaresque experiences have in the elements that shape videogames and in their sociocultural context.

I would like to thank Eludamos as a whole (editorial team, reviewers, etc.) for their deep insight in the process of shaping such a complex and multilayered topic. Thank you so much!

With this, I can show how videogames featuring rogues are predisposed to certain mechanics and narratives due to the influence of Picaresque Literature. This is the first step on a series of papers where I will further study the consequences

As @t0mm7.bsky.social‬ indicates, my new open-access paper "Playing rogues: Picaresque experiences in videogames" is out in Eludamos! In this paper, I define and explore what Picaresque experiences are using three digital games.

In this paper we explore the role of Picaresque Literature in the development of the early years of the "thief" class in Dungeons & Dragons and how it created a bridge between Literature, fandom and developers. This phenomenon lead to quite interesting changes in the industry. Take a look!

This is my first post! I am a doctor in Spanish Literature and Game Studies. At the moment, my research is focused on the relationship between Picaresque Literature, TRPGs and video games. In general, I am interested in literary influences in video games and their cultural implication.
