They're being patient, not skipping steps, and amassing impressive depth of young, high character workers. I haven't been more optimistic as a Wizards fan in my life. It's a matter of when and not if with this franchise.

Gallo's expiring deal came to DC in the June 2023 trade that sent Kristaps Porzingis to Boston (and ironically, Marcus Smart to MEM). Porzingis was set to become a free agent before the Wizards swung the deal. The Wizards got two more 2nd rounders in that deal.

They had Bagley's expiring money because last year (Jan 24) they acquired two seconds from Detroit as payment for taking on the final year of Bagley's contract. The Wizards sent out the expiring contract of Danilo Gallinari in the deal.
